Zero dead volume fitting assembly

A tubing and ferrule assembly for use in joining a clad tubing to a fitting. The ferrule is bound to the clad tubing, which includes a partial jacket of stainless steel, such that the inert core protrudes from, and has a common outer diameter with, the jacket. The ferrule is bound to the jacket slightly more distant than necessary for the inert core to contact a fitting. When the ferrule is retained in place, the inert core is compressed and provides a true zero dead volume connection between the clad tubing and the fitting.

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a pipe having a connecting flange, wherein the flange part is welded to an end face pipe end and at least one protrusion of the pipe or of the flange part is provided in the region of the flange hub and contacts the inner wall of the other part on the joining together of the pipe and the flange part to cover the formed weld joint to the pipe interior; and wherein finally the pipe and the flange part are welded to one another.

High pressure flowline union

A union joins male and female subs of two flowline components. The male sub includes a male end of one component, a retainer collar, and a union nut. An annular boss extends around a union face of the male end and provides a rearward-facing shoulder. The retainer collar is carried on the male end and has a forward-facing shoulder and a rearward-facing shoulder. The collar forward-facing shoulder bears on the male end rearward-facing shoulder. The female sub includes a threaded female end of the other component. The nut is carried on the male end around the collar and threads onto the female end. It also has a forward-facing shoulder which bears on the collar rearward-facing shoulder. The nut forward-facing shoulder and the collar rearward-facing shoulder are beveled. Thus, load from the nut is transmitted through the collar axially to the annular boss and radially inward to the male end.

Ultrahigh pressure fitting with recessed sealing surface and related technology
10801651 · 2020-10-13 · ·

A waterjet system in accordance with at least some embodiments of the present technology includes a tube configured to carry ultrahigh pressure liquid, and a fitting connected to an end portion of the tube. The fitting includes a body and a clamping block that secures the tube to the body. The body includes a recess, a passage extending inwardly from the recess, a sealing surface extending around the passage, and a sidewall extending around the sealing surface. The sealing surface meets the sidewall at an annular corner within the recess. The clamping block includes first, second, and third through holes spaced apart from one another. The tube extends through the first through hole and is secured to the clamping block via a threaded connection. First and second clamping bolts extend through the first and second through holes, respectively, and into respective threaded openings in the body.

Face-Sealing Fluidic Connection System

A tubing or fitting assembly has an inner tube layer, an outer tube layer, a sleeve, a tip portion, and can have a nut. Each of the nut, sleeve, inner and outer tubing layers, and tip portion have a passageway therethrough, with at least the passageways in the sleeve, tip portion, outer tube layer, and nut adapted to allow the inner tube layer to pass therethrough or extend over the inner layer. The tip portion can be molded over an end portion of the inner tube layer and also over a portion of the sleeve. The sleeve may include a retention feature in the form of a lip which extends into the tip portion, and also a narrower portion so that the tip portion and sleeve remain coupled together. The inner and outer tubing layers can also be retained by an interference fit. The ends of the tip portion and inner layer together define a substantially flat surface which can form a seal in a flat-bottomed port of a component such as may be found in any one of a number of components in an analytical instrument system, including for example a liquid chromatography system. The nut, tube, ferrule, and transfer tube or liner tube may comprise biocompatible materials. In addition, the nut may have a slot, such as a slot adapted to allow the tube and the nut to be easily and quickly separated or to allow a portion of the tube to be easily and quickly inserted in the nut.

Coupling seal having ramp surfaces
10760698 · 2020-09-01 · ·

A seal for a coupling joining pipe elements has angularly oriented ramp surfaces on an outer surface. The ramp surfaces are arranged in diametrically opposite pairs which are positioned at the three o'clock and nine o'clock positions at the interface between segments forming the coupling. The ramps are expected to mitigate pinching of the seals between the segments as the segments are drawn together, compressing the seals to form a fluid tight pipe joint.

Valve and valve coupling with reverse tapered shafts

A valve or a valve coupling has a closing member rotatably mounted within the bore of a housing. The valve closing member is mounted on tapered shafts. The shafts may be stepwise tapered, or a portion of the shafts may be tapered. The ends of the shafts having the larger diameters engage lugs on the valve closing member and the ends having the smaller diameters extend from the housing.
