Apparatus for coupling tubular components and associated methods
10563800 · 2020-02-18 · ·

An apparatus for coupling together tubular components is described herein. The apparatus includes a coupling assembly with a coupling device having threads and an internal groove. The coupling assembly also includes a retainer clip positionable in the internal groove. The retainer clip is biased to apply a radially outward force against the internal groove when the retainer clip is positioned in the internal groove. The coupling assembly includes a ferrule, coupleable to the coupling device, in contact with the retainer clip when coupled to the coupling device to form an electrically conductive path through the coupling device, the retainer clip, and the ferrule. The retainer clip is configured to prevent movement of the coupling device relative to the ferrule when the retainer clip has an unbiased inner diameter smaller than an outer diameter of the ferrule or the retainer clip is not properly inserted into the internal groove.

TUBE FITTING ASSEMBLY

A fitting assembly includes a tube, a fitting body, a threaded drive nut, and at least one ferrule. An engagement indicator member is adapted to engage a corresponding engagement indicator member for indicating a correct installation of the fitting assembly, the engagement indicator member having a body having a geometry adapted to be rotatably received or non-rotatably received by one of the fitting body or the drive nut.

PIPE COUPLING
20190390801 · 2019-12-26 · ·

A pipe coupling including an externally threaded body and an internally threaded nut. The nut's outer end includes an outwardly converging internal circular surface and a spacer is co-operable with the nut and body. The coupling further includes an O-ring and a deformable gripping member. The gripping member has an internal surface with barbs extending radially inwardly therefrom. An end of a pipe is insertable through said gripping member, spacer and O-ring into the body. Tightening of the nut causes axial movement of said spacer, sealing engagement of said O-ring to the body and pipe, and radially inward deformation of said gripping member such that said barbs clamp the pipe. The diameter of the O-ring is greater than that of the spacer at points where it is secured before tightening of the nut and less than that of the spacer when the nut has been tightened.

Connection

A system for making a connection between a first tubular member and a second tubular member having coincident bores for conveying a fluid, the connection having an axis in the general direction of flow of said fluid therethrough, the system comprising a connection (1) and a tensioning tool (100), the connection having a first tubular end (6) comprising a first end flange (16) having an end face (17) and a collar (20) comprising a sleeve (21) and an end stop (30) fixed to the sleeve (21), said sleeve (21) arranged about said flange (18) and said end stop (30) arranged about said tubular end (6), said collar (20) slideable along said tubular end (6), the connection further having a second tubular end (7) comprising a second end flange (43) having an end face (45) and a locking nut (50) about and slideable along said first tubular end (7), the tensioning tool (100) for applying axial tension to said collar (30) relative to said second tubular end (7) characterised in that at least one of said sleeve (20) and said second tubular end (7) has a set of parallel circumferential grooves (23,47) therein and said tensioning tool (100) has a set of ridges (142), the system comprising the steps of moving said set of ridges (142) into said set of grooves (23,47) and applying an axial tension to said collar (20) relative to said second tubular end (7).

Locking collar quick union connection

A locking collar quick union connection comprises a split ring and a locking collar sub assembly. The locking collar sub assembly includes a collar, a locking ring, and a locking screw. The locking ring includes outer threads that engage inner threads formed on a larger inner diameter portion of the collar. The split ring includes outer threads that engage inner threads formed on a smaller inner diameter portion of the collar. The locking screw rotationally locks the locking ring to the locking collar.

HAMMER UNION CONNECTION AND RELATED METHODS OF ASSEMBLY

A hammer union includes a male sub, a threaded female sub, a threaded union nut disposed around abutting ends of the threaded female sub and the male sub, the abutting ends of the threaded female sub and the male sub include contact surfaces perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the hammer union, and an outermost diameter of the perpendicular contact surfaces and a minor thread diameter of the female sub are equidistant from a longitudinal axis of the hammer union. A method of assembling a hammer union includes inserting a plurality of load segments between a threaded union nut and a male sub, threadedly engaging internal threads of the threaded union nut with external threads of a female sub, and engaging flat contact surfaces of abutting ends of the male sub and the female sub.

SLIDING HIGH PRESSURE PIPE CONNECTION
20190323640 · 2019-10-24 ·

A coupler for conducting high pressure fluid between adjacent skids on an oil rig is disclosed. A coupler is rotatable relative to pipe segments that together form a fluid connection between the adjacent skids for transferring fuel or another fluid between the skids at a relatively high pressure and flow rate. Rotating the coupler causes the pipe segments to extend and contract to facilitate connection to the skids without the use of heavy equipment.
