CONDUIT FITTING WITH COMPONENTS ADAPTED FOR FACILITATING ASSEMBLY
A subassembly for a conduit fitting includes a first ferrule and a second ferrule alignable relative to an axis. The first ferrule includes a camming surface at a back portion thereof, and the second ferrule includes a surface that contacts the camming surface when the first ferrule and the second ferrule are axially moved together along the axis. A retaining structure retains the first ferrule and the second ferrule together as a subassembly, and includes a flange extending radially outward and axially rearward from the back portion of the first ferrule to define an outer diameter recess. The flange includes an end portion that extends radially inward to define an inner diameter recess retaining a forward portion of the second ferrule. The outer diameter recess and the inner diameter recess together define a hinge portion of the flange.
Fittings for sealing a wire within a tube and related methods
A fitting assembly may seal a wire within a tube to inhibit ingress of fluid outside the tube into the tube and into contact with the wire. The fitting assembly may optionally include a body and a nut, with a part of the nut received within the body. The nut may be threadedly connected to the body, such that threading and/or unthreading the nut translates the part of the nut within the body. Optionally, the nut may include a ring extension that is received within a ring cavity of the body, and an interfacing between the ring extension and the ring cavity may create a seal to inhibit leaking of the fluid past the seal. A method of sealing a wire within a tube may comprise positioning a tube with a wire therein within such a fitting assembly.
Lightning resistant gas tubing system
Apparatus for detecting an electrical insult to a gas tubing system and dissipating the energy from such insult. The system includes tubing, at least one terminating connector, and an injury mitigator. The tubing includes a conduit, an insulating layer, a conductive layer, and a jacket. The conduit is connected to earth ground. The conductive layer is electrically insulated from the conduit by the insulating layer. The mitigator includes an insult event detection circuit and an energy dissipation circuit, both electrically connected between the conductive layer of the tubing and ground. Insult indication is provided by a fusible link. Energy dissipation is provided by the fuse, a transient voltage suppression (TVS) device, and/or a spark gap. The TVS device has a setpoint voltage less than the breakdown voltage of the spark gap, ensuring that the TVS device actuates before the spark gap conducts.
Conduit fitting with components adapted for facilitating assembly
A fitting includes first and second threaded fitting components, a conduit gripping device, and a stroke resisting member having a first axial length, the stroke resisting member being disposed between a threaded portion of the first fitting component and a radially extending portion of the second fitting component. The stroke resisting member is axially engaged by the radially extending portion of the second fitting component when the first and second fitting components are joined together to a first relative axial position, such that a tightening torque beyond the first relative axial position is increased by the axial engagement. The stroke resisting member is plastically compressed to a second axial length smaller than the first axial length when the first and second fitting components are joined together to a second relative axial position advanced beyond the first relative axial position.
Pipe coupling
A coupling for interconnecting a first pipe element and a second pipe element. The coupling comprises a first coupling member on the first pipe element, and a second coupling member on the second pipe element. The second coupling member is dimensioned to receive therein the first coupling member. The coupling also includes a retainer element having threads to engage the first coupling member to retain the first and second coupling members in a coupled state. The retainer element includes a lock feature to prevent inadvertent loosening rotation.
METHODS OF FORMING ENERGY-DISSIPATIVE TUBES
One aspect of the invention provides a method of forming an energy-dissipative tube. In one embodiment, the method includes: extruding a resin layer over an outer surface of corrugated stainless steel tubing and impregnating the resin layer with metal particles. In another embodiment, the method includes: extruding a resin layer comprising a fire retardant over an outer surface of corrugated stainless steel tubing and impregnating the resin layer with metal particles. In another embodiment, the method includes: extruding a resin layer comprising between about 20% to 60% magnesium hydroxide, aluminum trihydrate, or halogenated fire retardants by weight over an outer surface of corrugated stainless steel tubing and impregnating the resin layer with metal particles selected from the group consisting of: copper, aluminum, gold, silver, and nickel.
Biocompatible Tubing for Liquid Chromatography Systems
A biocompatible tube and fitting system that can be used in a liquid chromatography system is described. The tube can have a polymer tip and can be used in conjunction with one or more fitting assembly.
Tube coupling device
A coupling device for coupling to a fluid line includes a coupler body having an end portion with a threaded outer surface and a conical inner surface. A fastener threadedly engages the threaded outer surface of the coupler body. A ferrule includes a rotational driving portion and a clamping portion having a threaded inner surface. When a tube is inserted through the ferrule and the fastener and into the end portion of the coupler body, the fastener threads onto the coupler body and the conical inner surface of the coupler body engages an outer surface of the clamping portion of the ferrule to substantially clamp the clamping portion of the ferrule around the tube. With the fastener tightened, the ferrule is rotatable relative to the fastener and the coupler body and the tube, whereby rotation of the ferrule moves the tube further into the coupler body.
Biocompatible tubing for liquid chromatography systems
A biocompatible tube and fitting system that can be used in a liquid chromatography system is described. The tube can have a polymer tip and can be used in conjunction with one or more fitting assembly.
APPARATUS FOR COUPLING TUBULAR COMPONENTS AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
An apparatus for coupling together tubular components is described herein. The apparatus includes a coupling assembly with a coupling device having threads and an internal groove. The coupling assembly also includes a retainer clip positionable in the internal groove. The retainer clip is biased to apply a radially outward force against the internal groove when the retainer clip is positioned in the internal groove. The coupling assembly includes a ferrule, coupleable to the coupling device, in contact with the retainer clip when coupled to the coupling device to form an electrically conductive path through the coupling device, the retainer clip, and the ferrule. The retainer clip is configured to prevent movement of the coupling device relative to the ferrule when the retainer clip has an unbiased inner diameter smaller than an outer diameter of the ferrule or the retainer clip is not properly inserted into the internal groove.
