Example game systems and methods are described. In one implementation, a sensing device determines an identity of a game piece in a physical space and detects a movement action associated with the game piece. A computing device calculates a distance and direction associated with the movement action and determines a result of the movement action based on the distance, the direction, and the identity of the game piece.

RESTORING GAMEPLAY BY REPLAYING PAST INPUTS
20210228984 · 2021-07-29 ·

Methods, computer-readable media, and computing devices are described herein for restoring gameplay by replaying past inputs. During gameplay, capture logic captures participant inputs that were received to change states of game objects. The capture logic stores the captured information in an electronic record of period(s) of the gameplay. After the period(s) of gameplay, replay logic receives a request to initiate subsequent gameplay beginning from a point in time from a period of past gameplay. The replay logic causes the subsequent gameplay to begin from the point at least in part by loading saved state information and replaying the captured participant inputs.

A method executed by an information processing system includes retrieving, from a first terminal device, log data related to a gameplay of a game progressed on the first terminal device based on an input operation from a user. The method includes creating, based on the log data, a video that replays the gameplay of the game progressed on the first terminal device. The method includes generating metadata based on at least one of gameplay information related to the gameplay of the game progressed on the first terminal device or operation information indicative of the input operation from the user performed on an input interface of the first terminal device by the user in the game. The method includes associating the metadata with the video. The method further includes outputting the video and the associated metadata.

Save game load time reduction for cloud gaming

A cloud gaming system having a game console that is configured to execute video games is provided. The game console provides an interface for a remote client device to interface with the game console and request that games be played. The game console being located in a first data center. The system further includes a storage server connected to the game console over a network connection in the first data center. A save data server is also provided and is located in a second data center. Data selection logic of the game console is provided. The data selection logic is configured to retrieve save data from the save data server and cache the save data to a save data disk of the game console. The data selection logic is configured to automatically retrieve the save data upon detecting a session initiation for a user account.

Modular multi-system gaming console

A modular multi-system gaming console can be configurable for use in conjunction with expansion consoles (also referred to as expansion modules, expansion units, and/or element modules herein) as a gaming console emulator and/or for use as an audio/video converter (e.g., an up-converter), data recorder, or streaming device. Further, the modular multi-system gaming console can evoke the original gaming experience of a game played on original hardware. A modular multi-system gaming console can provide a consistent platform for display, content management, statistical storage and analysis (e.g., high scores, fastest speed runs, etc.), and live streaming and other services (including core services described herein) across a multitude of gaming console platforms. A modular multi-system gaming console can also provide a more authentic game experience via active cartridge reading. Further, by providing a flexible and configurable architecture for the modular multi-system gaming console, support for new consoles can be added to the modular multi-system gaming console without requiring users to purchase an entirely new console that repeats hardware for providing the core services.
