A liquid propane injection pump assembly is disclosed. In one example, the liquid propane injection pump assembly includes a connection tee having first, second, and third openings. A first inlet structure can be connected to the first opening, a second inlet structure can be connected to the second opening, and an outlet structure can be connected to the third opening. The first inlet structure can include a nozzle with an external taper while the outlet structure can include a barrel with a tapered internal passageway into which the nozzle extends.

A method and system(s) are disclosed for integrating a new fuel into an operating transportation system in a continuous, seamless manner, such as diesel fuel being gradually replaced by compressed natural gas (“CNG”) in long haul trucks. Integration can be implemented using two enabling technologies. The first is an engine system capable of operating seamlessly on two or more fuels without regard to the ignition characteristics of the fuels. The second is a communications and computing system for implementing a fueling strategy that optimizes fuel consumption, guides the selection of fuel based upon location, cost and emissions and allows the transition from one fuel to another to appear substantially seamless to the truck driver.

Cryogenic propellant tank (1) for a spacecraft engine, comprising an external enclosure (10) defining an internal volume, characterized in that the internal volume of the tank comprises a primary volume (V1) and a secondary volume (V2) connected to the primary volume (V1) via a valve (20) configured to selectively allow a passage of fluid from the primary volume (V1) to the secondary volume (V2), or to isolate the secondary volume (V2) from the primary volume (V1), the primary volume (V1) having a primary orifice (11) adapted to be connected to a first pressurization source (41), the secondary volume (V2) having a supply orifice (4) adapted to be connected to a supply line of a spacecraft engine (30), and a secondary orifice (12) adapted to be connected to a second pressurization source (42).

INTERNAL CASING FOR PRESSURIZED FLUID STORAGE TANK FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE

An internal casing for a pressurized fluid storage tank for a motor vehicle includes: a hollow body includes a layer made of a first polymer material; and a neck arranged on the hollow body and delimiting an opening of the hollow body, the neck receiving an interface part mounted on the neck in a sealed manner by a gasket arranged between the neck and the interface part. The neck is made of a composite material composed of a second polymer material loaded with reinforcing fibers, the composite material having a deformation resistance than that of the first polymer material. The neck is joined to the hollow body by molecular entanglement of polymer chains of the first polymer material and polymer chains of the second polymer material. Methods for manufacturing such an internal casing, and a storage tank including such an internal casing are disclosed.

Underground Hydrogen Storage Vessel

A method of storing hydrogen involves forming an excavation in the earth and constructing a storage tank therein comprised of integrated primary and secondary containment structures. The primary containment structure composed of a plurality of joinable cylindrical segments, or pre-fabricated sections joined to form a cylinder within the excavation. The secondary containment structure formed by pumping a curable, flowable composition into the cylinder, allowing it to flow out the bottom and up the second annulus to the earth's surface, and then hardening; thereby encasing the primary containment structure. The bottom of the cylinder is sealed with the bottom assembly. The top assembly is attached to the cylinder and tubing and packer are run into the cylinder creating a first annulus between the cylinder and tubing. Top assembly is sealed, fluids circulated out, and the tank dried. Thereafter, the tank is capable of safely storing hydrogen gas.

LIQUID HYDROGEN STORAGE TANK

A liquid hydrogen reservoir and a method for operating a liquid hydrogen reservoir. The liquid hydrogen reservoir includes a cryostatic container operable to hold liquid hydrogen; a discharge line operable to discharge gaseous hydrogen in the cryostatic container; a boil-off management system (BMS), a return line, and a boil-off valve (BOV). The BMS that includes a mixing chamber operable to mix the gaseous hydrogen with ambient air, a catalyst arranged downstream of the mixing chamber and operable for a catalytic conversion of the gaseous hydrogen with the ambient air, and an exhaust gas line arranged downstream of the catalyst and operable to discharge the gas stream to the environment. The return line is operable to connect the exhaust gas line to the mixing chamber to facilitate a return flow of at least a partial stream of the exhaust gas line into the mixing chamber. The BOV is arranged in the discharge line and operable to selectively open and close a flow connection of the discharge line to the BMS.

A high-pressure tank includes a container main body (10) constituted of a body (11) and dome portions (12) disposed on both ends of the body, and a reinforcing layer (20) formed such that a fiber member is wound around an outer periphery of the container main body. The reinforcing layer includes a hoop winding layer (40) formed by hoop winding that winds the fiber member such that a winding angle is approximately perpendicular to a central axis of the body, and a high helical winding layer (30) formed by high helical winding that winds the fiber member such that a winding angle is inclined with respect to the central axis compared with the hoop winding, and the high helical winding layer extends to the dome portion. The high helical winding layer includes a thick portion having a thickness at an outer side part of a boundary position between the body and the dome portion, which thickness is thicker than a thickness at a part positioned on the body. The hoop winding layer is formed from the body to the dome portion where the thick portion is formed, as a layer at an outer diameter side of the high helical winding layer.

FUEL SYSTEM MOUNTABLE TO A VEHICLE FRAME

A fuel system is provided that includes a fuel system frame and in some cases access steps. The frame can be mounted to a vehicle frame rail. Bracket assemblies can be coupled to the fuel system frame at a plurality of positions. The fuel tank can be mounted at neck portions thereof and can be supported on the frame rail between the neck portion, e.g., spaced a distance from the neck portions in a longitudinal direction of the fuel system. The access steps can be non-rectangular to provide a wide stepping portion even if the fuel system includes large tanks. The steps can be directly supported by an outside surface of the tank.

A cryogenic fluid delivery system includes a main tank system with a main tank adapted to contain a first supply of cryogenic liquid, and reserve tank system with reserve tank adapted to contain a second supply of cryogenic liquid. A pressure building circuit is adapted to delivery vapor to the head space of the main tank to build pressure in the main tank and a fuel delivery line supplies cryogenic fuel from either the main tank or the reserve tank to a use device. The reserve tank stores saturated cryogenic fuel that is delivered to the use device via the fuel delivery line while the cryogenic liquid in the main tank is being saturated. The fluid delivery system automatically switches to delivering cryogenic fuel from the main tank to the use device via the fuel delivery line upon saturation of the cryogenic liquid in the main tank.

A method for precooling fuel delivery components of a machine having an engine fueled by a cryogenically-stored fuel is described. The fuel delivery components may be configured to operate at an operating temperature at or below a boiling point of the cryogenically-stored fuel. The method may comprise, in a vapor precooling mode, cooling the fuel delivery components to a temperature approaching the operating temperature with a vapor of the fuel taken from a reservoir cryogenically storing the fuel. The method may further comprise, in a liquid precooling mode, further cooling the fuel delivery components to the operating temperature with a liquid of the fuel taken from the reservoir.
