HYDRAULIC COMPRESSED AIR ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM
A hydraulic compressed air energy storage system includes air and liquid tanks, each of which includes interdependent volumes of liquid and air. Each tank includes dedicated passages through which incoming air may be fed, forcing outflow of liquid, or incoming liquid may be fed, forcing outflow of air. Compressed air tanks are connected to a first group of the air and liquid tanks. The system further includes a pump and a liquid turbine, the liquid turbine being electrically connected to a generator for generating electric power. During charging of the system, liquid is pumped through the first group of air and liquid tanks, and air is expelled from the first group of air and liquid tanks and compressed in the compressed air tanks. During discharging of the system, compressed air is released from the compressed air tanks, and said compressed air pumps liquid through the liquid turbine, thereby generating electricity.
SMALL MOLECULE GAS STORAGE ADAPTER
An apparatus in the form of a subterranean storage container configured to store a volume of a small molecular gas, such as hydrogen or methane. In some embodiments, a casing is arranged to extend into a subterranean formation. A top end of the casing is connected to a top cap structure. The top cap structure includes an adapter flange connected to an inner liner which extends within the casing and is separated therefrom by a circumferentially extending annulus. The annulus is configured to be filled with a fluid at a predetermined pressure. The fluid may be an uncompressible liquid such as propylene glycol. The small molecular gas is stored within an interior of the inner liner at a selected pressure, such as above 1000 pounds per square inch (psi).
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FILLING TANKS OF HYDROGEN-FUELED VEHICLES
Heat is transferred from a flow of liquid hydrogen to a flow of a heat transfer fluid at a first heat exchanger to produce a warmed flow of pressurized hydrogen and a cooled flow of heat transfer fluid. Heat is also transferred at a second heat exchanger, to the cooled flow of heat transfer fluid, from a flow of pressurized hydrogen that is derived from one or more buffer vessels filled by the warmed flow of pressurized hydrogen and/or the warmed flow of pressurized hydrogen from the first exchanger to produce a cooled flow of pressurized hydrogen that is used to fill tanks of fuel cell electric vehicles.
APPARATUS AND METHODOLOGY FOR THE ONSITE AUTONOMOUS MANUFACTURING AND PLACEMENT OF A COILED, CANNULAR INTELLIGENT COMPOSITE STRUCTURE FOR THE HIGH VOLUME, LOCALIZED AND RESILIENT STORAGE OF HYDROGEN AND OTHER GASEOUS AND LIQUID MEDIA
Methods and manufactures disclosed herein generally relate to a cannular composite (ITC) structure composed of multiple layers of sealing, reinforcement, sensing, protection, and interspatial injected materials.
STORAGE TANK FOR LIQUID HYDROGEN
A storage tank for liquid hydrogen comprises first and second shells each constructed of laminate material, the second shell being disposed outwardly of the first shell with respect to the centre of the storage tank. The first and second shells are mechanically connected by a first plurality of pins each of which passes through at least some layers of the second shell and at least some layers of the first shell. The storage tank may be constructed using a simpler manufacturing process involving less tooling and fewer process steps than is the case for known tanks for storing liquid hydrogen. The storage tank has also has a lower mass and reduced thermal losses compared to tanks of the prior art. The plurality of pins allows for the shells to be thinner, and hence lighter, than similar shells in tanks of the prior art.
DEVICE FOR STORING AND TRANSPORTING LIQUEFIED GAS
A device for storing and transporting liquefied gas, including a first inner reservoir extending in a longitudinal direction, a second outer reservoir, the device having a system for holding the first reservoir in the second reservoir having a first rigid connection between the first reservoir) and the second reservoir at a first longitudinal end, and, at a second longitudinal end of the device, a mechanism for suspending the first reservoir inside the second reservoir having an assembly of tie rods, a first end of the tie rods being attached to a sheath that is secured to the first reservoir via a washer(s) and nut assembly, these being fitted around the tie rod, a second end of the tie rods being attached to a sheath that is secured to the second reservoir via a washer(s) and nut assembly.
