A system and method that helps evacuees exit a residential structure in the event of an emergency such as a fire, earthquake, security breach or the like, by providing emergency illumination around the periphery of an exit door and/or an alternative safe exit portal together with floor/ground level illumination along the path to the portal, and by providing an audible tone or voice recording to guide occupants to the exit portal. Various forms of linear illuminators parallel to and near the floor of an interior room or hallway provide the floor-level identification and illumination of the exit route to be used in the event of emergency, with some linear illuminators having directional aspects along hallways to lead evacuees toward an exit, and other illuminators outlining the perimeter of portals that are safe to exit through, the illuminators normally being hardly noticeable but having controllers and energizers to light up the planned exit route when emergency conditions are detected.

An illumination device having a pole mount, a light support that extends from the pole mount, a lighting unit is connected to the pole mount, and a solar panel assembly is mounted to the lighting unit. In another embodiment an illumination apparatus is provided having a pole mount and a lighting assembly, and the pole mount has hinged first clamp half and second clamp halves. When in the closed clamp position the pole mount clamp defines a pole opening. A first light support extends from the first clamp half and a light emitting assembly is supported by the first light support. In another preferred embodiment there is a band illumination device that is secured to a pole with a band, and in another preferred embodiment there is and adjustable band illumination assembly secured to a pole with bands.

A light source, for example a light emitting diode, can emit light and have an associated optical axis. The source can be deployed in applications where it is desirable to have illumination biased laterally relative to the optical axis, such as in a street luminaire where directing light towards a street is beneficial. The source can be coupled to an optic that comprises an inner surface facing the source and an outer surface that is opposite the inner surface. The inner surface can comprise a refractive surface that receives light headed away from the optical axis of the light source, for example opposite the street. The refractive surface can form the received light into a beam. The outer surface of the optic can reflect the beam back across the optical axis, for example so that light headed away from the street is redirected towards the street.

A method and device for easily installing and removing an airport light on a runway using a fixture ring having a base ring; an annular lip operatively connected to and extending radially inwardly from the base ring; a lift bar operatively connected to the annular lip and extending from one side to the diametrically opposite side of the annular lip; and a pair of extractors, operatively connecting the lift bar to the annular lip to cause the lift bar to move up and down relative to the annular lip.

A thoroughfare lighting device comprising a housing configured to be attached to a thoroughfare surface, a plurality of LEDs configured to selectively illuminate individual lanes of the thoroughfare surface, the plurality of LEDs comprising a first set of LEDs configured to emit a generally white light and a second set of LEDs configured to emit colored light that is operable to selectively emit light so as to illuminate individual lanes of the thoroughfare surface, a driver circuit configured to operate the second set of LEDs to emit a colored light indicating the condition of a first lane of the thoroughfare surface, and an optic carried by the housing and positioned in optical communication with the plurality of LEDs.

A lighting element for an illuminated hardscape. The lighting element includes a body structure defining a dispersion surface. A light fixture is positioned within the body structure and is configured to provide a light which is dispersed through the body structure to the dispersion surface. The body structure is formed from a clear or translucent material. An illuminated hardscaping is also provided.

A landscape lighting system includes a light fixture having an LED, a first light diverting element having a first light diversion angle associated therewith, a second light diverting element having a second light diversion angle associated therewith that is different than the first light diversion angle, and a light intensity controller for communicating with the light fixture to selectively control the intensity of the light generated by the LED. The light intensity controller is in wireless communication with the light fixture. The fixture has a first configuration in which the first light diverting element overlies the LED for emitting light having the first light diversion angle, and a second configuration in which the second light diverting element overlies the LED for emitting light having the second light diversion angle.

A walkable skylight lighting system, installed to a roofing structure, including a skylight having a pane and framing members that surround and support the pane, and including a paving surface, the paving surface having a plurality of pavers that extend immediately adjacent to the skylight. The pane is an insulating glass unit (IGU) having structural glass panels and a thermal panel that are separated and sealed by a spacer, and separately supported so that they do not crush the spacer. The framing members include an upper framing member that has a lighting channel containing an LED lighting strip that edge lights the structural glass panels in the pane.

A light fixture is disclosed comprising an elongate tube, one or more shadow pattern plates, and a cover component. A shadow pattern plate incorporates a design pattern and creates a stylized shadow on a surface when light shines on the shadow pattern plate. A method is also disclosed for producing a light fixture with one or more shadow pattern plates.
