The multi-platform gaming system can include collectible toys depicting or representing one or more game characters or objects relevant to a game adapted to be played on the gaming platform. The collectible toys can have associated therewith an RFID tag including a corresponding unique tag identification number. The RFID tag can include an antenna, integrated circuitry for wirelessly transmitting and receiving information to and from an associated RFID tag reader, and non-volatile programmable memory for storing game-relevant information describing skills, abilities or attributes associated with one of said game characters or objects.

A package may be received that includes one or more anti-tamper hash portions and encrypted data, where the encrypted data includes one or more procedural content generation instructions. A portion of the encrypted data including the one or more procedural content generation instructions may be decrypted and a data based on the execution of the one or more procedural content generation instructions and a corpus of data may be generated. The generated data may be encrypted and anti-tamper hashes may be generated based on the encrypted generated data. The generated anti-tamper hashes may be compared to the one or more anti-tamper hashes in the anti-tamper hash portion of the received package.

Disclosed are methods, apparatus and systems, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for authenticating data for playing a game of chance on a gaming machine. A motherboard is provided in the gaming machine. A peripheral component is in communication with the motherboard over a bus. The peripheral component has access to authentication code in a memory. An authentication instruction message is received over the bus. Responsive to receiving the authentication instruction message, the authentication code is executed on a processor to perform an authentication process on the data. A signal is output, indicating whether the authentication process is successful in authenticating the data. In one implementation, the signal enables play of the game of chance on the gaming machine when the authentication process is successful, and disables play of the game of chance when the authentication process is unsuccessful.
