A game system that is a non-limiting example information processing system comprises a main body apparatus, and this main body apparatus is provided with a left controller and a right controller in a attachable and detachable manner. Each of the left controller and the right controller comprises a plurality of operation buttons and an analog stick. In a first operation mode, action of a player character is controlled according to an operation of a player. In a second operation mode, a sub-character appears, and action of the sub-character is automatically controlled except for a case where the sub-character attacks an enemy character according to depression of a ZL-button. In a third operation mode, movement of the player character and movement of the sub-character are respectively controlled according to an operation of the player.

TARGETING OF AN INDIVIDUAL OBJECT AMONG A PLURALITY OF OBJECTS IN A MULTI-PLAYER ONLINE VIDEO GAME
20220152509 · 2022-05-19 ·

Systems, methods, and media are provided for improved targeting of an individual object among a plurality of objects in a mutli-player online video game. The video game may include plurality of objects located at various places at a given frame. At each frame, a position of the objects is identified. If a player object (except for the player object associated with the user) is within a predetermined radius of another player object, a target position of the player object is modified relative to other player objects. Next, the target position of the player object is modified towards its original position within the frame. This process is repeated for each player object until the corresponding player object is no longer within the predetermined radius of another player object or a violation of a constraints prevents the modification from being performed.

Animation and physics synchronization

This specification relates to animation and physics updates in computer games. According to a first aspect of this disclosure, there is described a computer implemented method comprising: updating, using an animation engine, an in-game animation at a first rate; and updating, using an in-game physics engine, an in-game physics state at a second rate, the second rate being different to the first rate. Updating the in-game physics state comprises: interpolating one or more in-game physical parameters corresponding to a physics update time that lies between two consecutive animation update times, the interpolation based on in-game animation frames corresponding to the two consecutive animation update times; and determining the update to the in-game physics state based on the interpolated physical parameters.

Apparatus and method of mapping a virtual environment

A method of mapping a virtual environment comprises obtaining a first sequence of video images output by a videogame title; obtaining a corresponding sequence of in-game virtual camera positions at which the video images were created; obtaining a corresponding sequence of depth buffer values for a depth buffer used by the videogame whilst creating the video images; and for each of a plurality of video images and corresponding depth buffer values of the obtained sequences, obtain mapping points corresponding to a sampling distribution of points over the area of a respective video image and their associated depth values; wherein respective mapping points are obtained by projecting co-ordinated derived from the sample points from the video image and associated depth values back into a 3D game world co-ordinate system of the videogame title; thereby obtaining a point cloud dataset of mapping points corresponding to the first sequence of video images.

Video recording and playback systems and methods

A video recording method includes recording a sequence of video images output by a videogame, recording a sequence of depth buffer values for a depth buffer used by the videogame, recording a sequence of in-game virtual camera positions used to generate the video images, recording one or more in-game events and their respective in-game positions, associating the depth buffer value sequence, the in-game virtual camera position sequence, and an identifier for the videogame, with the video image sequence, and associating the one or more in-game events and their respective in-game positions with the identifier for the videogame. A video playback method includes obtaining a video recording of a videogame playing session, comprising a sequence of video images, obtaining a depth buffer value sequence, an in-game virtual camera position sequence, and an identifier for the videogame that are associated with the video recording, obtaining data indicative of a statistically significant in-game event and an in-game event position, calculating a position within the current video image corresponding to the in-game event position, in dependence upon the associated in-game virtual camera position and depth buffer values, and augmenting the current video image with a graphical representation of the statistically significant in-game event, responsive to the calculated position.

ENABLING OF ASSIST FUNCTION

In a method of enabling an assist function, the assist function is enabled based on an execution history of a second operation that is to be performed by a virtual object in a virtual environment after a first operation is performed by the virtual object. The assist function is configured to automatically perform the second operation after the first operation. A first user input to perform the first operation by the virtual object is received. The second operation is automatically performed by the virtual object after the first operation is performed by the virtual object based on the assist function being enabled.

In some implementations, a method includes obtaining an end state of a first content item spanning a first time duration. In some implementations, the end state of the first content item indicates a first state of a synthesized reality (SR) agent at the end of the first time duration. In some implementations, the method includes obtaining an initial state of a second content item spanning a second time duration subsequent the first time duration. In some implementations, the initial state of the second content item indicates a second state of the SR agent at the beginning of the second time duration. In some implementations, the method includes synthesizing an intermediary emergent content item spanning over an intermediary time duration that is between the end of the first time duration and the beginning of the second time duration.
