Methods and systems for programming and controlling a control system of a gas valve assembly. The methods and systems include programming a control system in an automated manner to establish an air-fuel ratio based at least in part on a burner firing rate. The established air-fuel ratio may be configured to facilitate meeting a combustion constituent set point of combustion constituents in the combustion exhaust. The methods and systems include controlling operation of a combustion appliance based on closed-loop control techniques and utilizing feedback from a sensor measuring combustion constituents in exhaust from a combustion chamber in the combustion appliance. The combustion constituents on which control of the combustion appliance may be determined include oxygen and/or carbon dioxide.

Systems and Methods for Avoiding Harmonic Modes of Gas Burners

A gas burner system has a gas burner with a conduit through which an air-gas mixture is conducted; a variable-speed forced-air device that forces air through the conduit; a control valve that controls a supply of gas for mixture with the air to thereby form the air-gas mixture; and an electrode configured to ignite the air-gas mixture so as to produce a flame. The electrode is further configured to measure a flame ionization current associated with the flame. A controller is configured to actively control the variable-speed forced-air device based on the flame ionization current measured by the electrode so as to automatically avoid a flame harmonic mode of the gas burner. Corresponding methods are provided.

Gas Regulator Internal Vent Limiting Device

A pressure regulator is described. The pressure regulator includes a diaphragm, a vent limiting component, a relief valve stem, and a main spring. The diaphragm has an inner edge that defines a main relief opening. The vent limiting component is positioned within the main relief opening and adjacent to an upper side of the diaphragm about the inner edge. The vent limiting component defines an orifice, wherein the lower side of the diaphragm is in fluid communication with the upper side of the diaphragm through the orifice. The relief valve stem is positioned adjacent to a lower side of the diaphragm about the inner edge. The main spring is configured to provide a force to the vent limiting component to removably secure the vent limiting component to the diaphragm.

DUAL FUEL SELECTABLE APPARATUS

A heater assembly can be used with a gas appliance. The gas appliance can be a dual fuel appliance for use with one of a first fuel type or a second fuel type different than the first. The heater assembly can include a pressure sensor and a plurality of valves operable by a control module dependent upon a detected fuel pressure. The valves may be solenoid valves that can reduce the available fuel delivery paths to limit fuel delivery to a burner when a higher pressure, such as detection of LP gas, is detected.

Dual venturi for combustor
10215404 · 2019-02-26 · ·

The present invention relates to a dual venturi for a combustor and, specifically, to a dual venturi for a combustor, which adjusts the amount of gas and air supplied to a burner of a hot water heater and has a motor combined with a damper in order to increase a turn-down ratio (TDR), such that the damper is rotated by the driving of the motor so as to simultaneously open or close secondary air and gas inlets, thereby enabling efficient heating control. The present invention has a separate opening/closing means which is capable of controlling, in two stages, the amount of air and gas flowing into the combustor such as the hot water heater, wherein the opening/closing means comprises the motor and the damper, and the damper is rotated by the driving of the motor so as to simultaneously open or close the secondary air and gas inlets, thereby enabling the control of the amount of air and gas.

Regulating device

A regulating device may include a housing that defines an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber, with a flow restriction seat between the inlet chamber and the outlet chamber. A flow restriction valve is movable relative to the flow restriction seat to adjust the flow between the inlet chamber and the outlet chamber of the regulating device. A servo valve having a servo chamber may be used to adjust the position of the flow restriction valve. The servo chamber may be fluidly coupled to the inlet chamber though a fixed flow restriction and to the outlet chamber though an adjustable flow restriction. A stepper motor may be used to adjust the servo valve to adjust the adjustable flow restriction between the servo chamber and the outlet chamber. This causes a change of the servo pressure, which moves the flow restriction valve and adjusts the flow of the regulating device.

Gas oven

A gas oven having a gas supplying passage to supply gas to a burner is provided. The gas oven includes an ON/OFF valve to open/close the gas supplying passage, and a flow rate modulating valve connected to the ON/OFF valve in series so as to change the cross-sectional area of a passage, thereby supplying a proper amount of gas to a cooking cavity in response to the change of a cooking area. When a cooking cavity is divided into individual cooking cavities while a divider is mounted, the flow rate modulating valve is open/closed at a smaller opening degree than the maximum operating degree, and thus may be able to prevent a cooking substance from being carbonized in the individual cooking cavities.

Gas valve with electronic health monitoring

This disclosure relates generally to valves, and more particularly, to gas valve assemblies. In one illustrative but non-limiting example, a valve assembly may include a valve body, a valve situated in a fluid path of the valve body, a valve actuator for selectively moving the valve actuator, one or more sensors in communication with the fluid path, a controller secured relative to the valve body and in communication with the sensors, and memory operatively coupled to the controller. A user interface may be in communication with the memory and the controller and may be configured to receive a selection from a user for selecting one of two or more selectable options from the memory. The controller may compare sensed parameters to threshold values associated with the selected option. The user interface may have a lock on it to prevent tampering and to provide accountability.
