According to one embodiment a gas shut-off valve is provided with an intermediate port communicating a gas inlet an a gas outlet, a closing member moveable between a closed position and an open position, the intermediate port being blocked when the closing member is in the closed position. The shut-off valve includes a magnetic actuator having at least one permanent magnet and a movable element, attached to the closing member, with a ferromagnetic element adhered to the permanent magnet when the closing member is in an open position. A manual actuator of the shut-off valve is configured to move the closing member to the open position. A temperature sensing device is included that has a rod that expands and shrinks with temperature changes, with one end of the rod facing the movable element. The expansion of the rod at a closing temperature causing a pushing on the ferromagnetic element, moving the closing member from the open position to the closed position.

COOKING APPLIANCE HAVING A REMOVABLE CONTROL PANEL

A removable control panel console for a cooking appliance may include a front panel having upper fingers that hook onto apertures in a bullnose feature of the appliance. The control panel console is pivotable in this configuration, and may be secured to the appliance by raising the front panel to fully insert the fingers into the apertures and fastening a bottom wall of the control panel to the appliance. Side walls of the control panel console may include tabs that are received into corresponding slots in a front surface of the appliance, providing an additional alignment and security feature.

Retractable stovetop shielding screen

The retractable stovetop shielding screen is a wire mesh screen that may be deployed from an above-stove support such as a range hood or microwave oven to prevent children and pets from contacting the stovetop. The screen mounts to the front of the above-stove support using a pair of L-shaped mounting brackets. When not deployed, a spring loaded roller retracts the screen to a position above the stovetop. The screen is deployed by pulling a grip and the screen unwinds from the roller, stretching between the roller and the handle of the oven door below. The screen removably couples to the oven door handle using a loop kept closed by hook and loop fasteners. The screen is non-opaque, allowing items on the stovetop to be seen even when the screen is deployed.

LOW-PROFILE EXHAUST AND AIR INTAKE SYSTEM FOR A DIRECT VENT FIREPLACE

An exhaust and air intake system for a direct vent fireplace. A low-profile manifold assembly is coupled to a direct vent fireplace and is configured to receive exhaust gases from the fireplace and expel the exhaust gases outside of the building in which the fireplace is located. The manifold assembly also takes in fresh air from outside of the building and provides the fresh air to the fireplace to use during combustion. The manifold assembly includes separate chambers for the exhaust gases and the fresh air so that the exhaust gases and the fresh air do not mix together within the manifold assembly. Several pressure reduction and equalization structures are incorporated into the manifold assembly to regulate the amount and pressure of fresh air provided to the fireplace.

COLLAPSIBLE RADIATIVE HEATER ASSEMBLY AND METHODS FOR ASSEMBLY AND USE

A collapsible radiative heater assembly is disclosed that may be configured to save space and protect sensitive mechanisms of the heater. The collapsible heater may include a burner unit, a body and a hollow collapsible neck. The body may further comprise a receiving device that includes a first locking mechanism and a second locking mechanism for the hollow collapsible neck. The assembly may also include a protective casing that is attached detachably to the body in order to protect components of the assembly during transport or storage.

MULTI-CAVITY OVEN APPLIANCE WITH NATURAL AND FORCED CONVECTION

An oven appliance defines a vertical direction, a lateral direction and a transverse direction. The vertical, lateral and transverse directions are mutually perpendicular. The oven appliance includes a cabinet extending between a first side portion and a second side portion along the lateral direction. The cabinet also extends between a top portion and a bottom portion along the vertical direction. The cabinet defines an upper cooking chamber positioned adjacent the top portion of the cabinet and a lower cooking chamber positioned adjacent the lower portion of the cabinet. The oven appliance also includes a single heat source in thermal communication with an ambient environment around the oven appliance by natural convection and a fan operable to provide direct thermal communication from the single heat to one or both of the upper cooking chamber and the lower cooking chamber by forced convection.

METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AT LEAST ONE FUNCTION OF A DOMESTIC APPLIANCE AND CONTROL DEVICE

In a method for controlling at least one function of a household appliance, a control device senses contactlessly the presence of a user's hand in a sensing space. A characteristic of the sensed hand is detected by the control device, and a function of the household appliance is actuated using the detected characteristic.

RETRACTING AND EXTENDING CONTROL SELECTORS

A system for inhibiting and providing access to appliance control knobs includes a support structure for mounting individual control knobs or groups thereof, and an actuator assembly for extending and retracting control knobs either individually or collectively.

Boosted gas burner assembly and a method of operating the same

A gas burner assembly for a cooktop appliance and a method for operating the same are provided. The gas burner assembly includes a normally aspirated primary burner, a concentrically-positioned forced air boost burner, a boost valve for regulating a flow of boost fuel to the boost burner, and a forced air supply source for providing a flow of air to the boost burner. The method includes activating the boost burner upon receiving a command and starting a timer. After a predetermined amount of time has passed, e.g., such as ten minutes, the boost burner is extinguished by closing the boost valve to prevent unsafe operating conditions.
