An appliance, e.g., a refrigerator, and method utilize a transitioning handle that is usable in both a recessed and an extended position. As an example, a refrigerator may include a housing that defines at least a food compartment, a door attached to the housing that provides access to the food compartment and includes an exterior surface and a handle recess extending inwardly from the exterior surface of the door, and a handle attached to the at least one door and movably mounted within the handle recess between a recessed position and an extended position, where the handle is manually grippable in both the recessed position and the extended position.

A domestic appliance, in particular a refrigeration appliance, contains a door having a recessed grip and an illumination device for shining light onto the recessed grip. The illumination device has a projection device for projecting information onto the recessed grip. A method is used to operate a domestic appliance which contains the door having the recessed grip and the projection device for shining light onto the recessed grip, in which method information is projected onto the recessed grip by the projection device. The domestic appliance can be a refrigerator, a freezer, a preservation appliance or combinations thereof.

The functional frame includes an upper frame part having a delimiting web which protrudes upward on the upper frame part such that the recessed grip is embodied in the upper frame part.
Camera assembly for an oven appliance
An oven appliance having a camera assembly for providing images of food items within a cooking chamber includes a chamber wall and a separation panel defining an insulation gap therebetween. The camera assembly includes a housing defining a first end proximate the chamber wall and a second end proximate the separation panel which partially defines an electronics compartment. Viewing windows are positioned within the first and second ends of the housing and a camera is positioned within the electronics compartment and aimed through the viewing windows to generate images without being damaged during high temperature operation of the oven appliance.

The door comprises: a door frame; and a front panel arrangeable in front of the door frame so that while the front panel is arranged in front of the door frame, the front panel is in contact with the contact portion of the handle while the handle is mounted on the front of the door, the front panel including a support protrusion that extends toward the door frame from an area of the front panel which corresponds to the contact portion of the handle in contact with the front panel of the door to thereby prevent deformation of the door due to operation of the handle.
