A cooking appliance includes a door for closing a cooking chamber, a door-opening device configured to automatically move the door between a closed position and an open position of the door, and a sensing device operatively connected to the door-opening device. The sensing device is configured to sense a triggering element separate from the cooking appliance for controlling the door-opening device.

A door includes a handle, a handle link configured to rotate about a handle shaft, a first swing hinge shaft configured to protrude outward from and retract into a first side of the door, a pull-down configured to protrude outward from and retract into a second side of the door, a first main link having a first end rotatably connected to the handle link and a second end rotatably connected to the first swing hinge shaft, and a second main link having a first end rotatably connected to the handle link and a second end rotatably connected to the pull-down bar. An apparatus and method of a folding door for a cooking appliance. The folding door includes two or more segments hingedly connected. The folding door may vertically fold towards the bottom of the appliance. The outer surface of the folding door may face interiorly towards the one or more cooking compartments of the cooking appliance when in the folded configuration. The cooking appliance may also include one or more tracks guiding the folding door to the folded configuration.

A countertop oven includes a housing having a rear panel, an upper panel, a bottom panel, a first side panel, an opposing second side panel and an open front end, together defining a cooking cavity therebetween. The cooking cavity is accessible via the open front end of the housing. At least one heating element within the housing selectively heats the cooking cavity. A door is movably attached to the housing via at least one 4-bar linkage mechanism. The door is selectively movable between a closed position, wherein the open front end of the housing is covered by the door, and an open position, wherein the door is positioned generally atop the upper panel of the housing, thereby uncovering the open front end of the housing to access the cooking cavity.

A countertop oven includes a housing having a rear panel, an upper panel, a bottom panel, a first side panel, an opposing second side panel and an open front end, together defining a cooking cavity therebetween. The oven body has an inner space inside and includes a front plate, wherein the front plate has an entrance that communicates with the inner space. The heating element is adapted to heat the inner space. The frame is engaged with the oven body and has an abutted portion. The oven door is pivotally connected to the oven body and is located at the entrance. The oven door can pivot to a closed position to close the entrance and can pivot downward to an open position from the closed position to open the entrance. When the oven door is located at the open position, the second surface abuts against the abutted portion of the frame, thereby forming a platform outside the entrance for placing objects.

A cooking appliance includes a housing having a stowage compartment, a door for closing a cooking chamber, and a door opening mechanism constructed to automatically move the door at least in a section of an entire movement path between a closed position and an open position of the door, in which open position the door is retractable into the stowage compartment of the housing. The door opening mechanism includes an actuation unit which is configured to automatically tilt the door from the closed position into an intermediate position located such that any further movement of the door from the intermediate position into the open position is implemented automatically under the force of gravity of the door.
