FIXTURE FOR VENTING A ROOF
It is described herein a venting apparatus for an opening in a roof. The venting apparatus for an opening in a roof may comprise a structural frame, an adapter, a mount, a hinge, and a latch. The adapter may comprise a frame adapter section, a lip extending inwardly from a portion of the frame adapter section inner surface, and a protrusion extending upwardly from the lip. The frame adapter section may be configured to fit around an outer surface of the structural frame while the mount may be configured to fit around an outer surface of the protrusion. The latch may be configured to receive a signal from a device when the device detects the presence of smoke within the building to cause the latch to change from a latch closed position to a latch opened position.
Roof vent and roof ventilation system
This application relates to roof vents with diverters that prevent or reduce the likelihood that water or other debris can be driven through the vent by wind. For example, a roof vent can include a lower portion and an upper portion attached to the lower portion at an upslope edge, the upper portion angling away from the upslope edge to create a space therebetween. The roof vent can also include a front opening between the lower portion and the upper portion at a downslope edge of the upper portion to allow airflow into and out of the space. The roof vent can include a diverter positioned downslope of the front opening and attached to the lower portion for preventing or reducing the likelihood that water or other debris can be driven through the vent by wind.
Roof Vent Cage Assembly
A roof vent cage assembly includes a first screen that is formed into a cylinder to surround a powered roof vent on a building. The first screen is comprised of a mesh material to inhibit an animal to pass through the first screen. A second screen is coupled to the first screen such that the second screen is positioned over the powered roof vent when the first screen is positioned around the powered roof vent. The second screen is comprised of a mesh material to inhibit an animal from passing through the second screen. A plurality of flange screens is each coupled to and extends outwardly from the first screen to rest on the powered roof vent when the first screen is positioned around the powered roof vent.
Nozzle assembly for exhaust fan unit of HVAC system
A nozzle assembly for a fan unit includes an inner nozzle having a tapered outer diameter and a flow path radially inward from the tapered outer diameter with respect to a longitudinal axis of the nozzle assembly. The flow path is configured to guide a fluid flow and to expel the fluid flow through an inner outlet of the inner nozzle to a surrounding environment. The nozzle assembly also includes an outer nozzle disposed radially outward from the inner nozzle with respect to the longitudinal axis. The outer nozzle and the tapered outer diameter of the inner nozzle define an annular flow path therebetween. The annular flow path is configured to guide the fluid flow and to expel the fluid flow to the surrounding environment through an outer outlet of the outer nozzle. A cross-sectional area of the outer outlet is adjustable via movement of the inner nozzle, the outer nozzle, or both along the longitudinal axis of the nozzle assembly.
WINDBAND SILENCER WITH MEANS TO REDUCE CROSS-WIND PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL
A windband for an exhaust fan system. The windband comprises an elongate housing receivable about an exit nozzle of the exhaust fan system, an air inducer formed from a perforated material and positioned adjacent the bottom portion of the elongate housing, and a discharge sleeve positioned adjacent and secured to the top portion of the elongate housing. The discharge sleeve is formed from a perforated material and forms a passageway through which gas from the nozzle and induced ambient air passing through the elongate housing are discharged. The perforated air inducer and discharge sleeve together assist in the minimization of a pressure differential between an upwind side of the windband and a downwind side of the windband when the windband is subjected to wind striking the windband at an angle.
Attic ventilation system
An attic ventilation system that works universally with existing attic vents. The ventilation apparatus is mounted to the surface of an existing roof vent. The ventilation apparatus is connected to a power source such as a solar panel. The system and apparatus comprise a shroud comprised of a single piece.
Smart attic fan assembly
An attic fan assembly and method for efficiently cooling an attic is provided. The assembly includes a motor, a fan blade assembly, a control unit, a condition sensor, and a speed sensor. The control unit receives a condition sensor signal from the condition sensor and determines a target speed. The control unit receives a speed sensor signal from the speed sensor and determines a present speed. The control unit sends a motor signal to control speed of the motor according to the conditions of the target speed and the present speed.
MULTIFUNCTION ADAPTIVE WHOLE HOUSE FAN SYSTEM
A multifunction adaptive whole house fan system can include a whole house fan to pull large volume of air through a building structure. The whole house fan can pull air from a window or damper into the building structure and expel air through an attic. The system can monitor the environment to operate the whole house fan when desired conditions are present in coordination with other systems of the building structure to reduce overall energy consumption.
Roof vent with an integrated fan
A roof vent member with an integrated fan assembly is disclosed. The fan assembly may be installed, removed, replaced, maintained, etc. from underneath the roof without having to get on the roof or otherwise disrupt the roof envelope. The roof vent may include a subflashing, the fan assembly, sealing elements, screens, and other features. A secondary roof vent member may be included which may include solar panels. Associated methods of using the vent members, such as installing, removing, and replacing the vent member or various components thereof, are further disclosed.
Air cooling system for building structures with attic
A fresh-air cooling system for a building structure having an unvented attic is provided. The system provides airflow pathways that allow outside air to be drawn through, and discharged from, a building having an unvented attic. Dampers with a low thermal conductivity regulate airflow through the building structure. The system allows a whole house fan to cool a building having an unvented attic. The system seals or otherwise alters airflow pathways through the building structure in order to reduce heat transfer between the building and the outside environment when the cooling system is not in use.
