Systems and Methods for Warm Air Pre-Cooling
20200363093 · 2020-11-19 ·

Several methods and systems for pre-cooling warm air in a cooling system are disclosed. The warm air may be return air, fresh air or a combination of return and fresh air. Condensate from a primary cooling element is applied to the wet side of an air-to-air heat exchanger while the warm air passes through the dry side of the heat exchanger. The warm air is pre-cooled by the transfer of heat from the warm air to the condensate, reducing overall energy consumption in the cooling system.

Energy Exchange Apparatus for Sensible and Latent Heat

An apparatus is provided and arranged with an air control system to alternately direct a first and a second airflow to a first and a second energy-absorbing body in order to achieve a heat and moisture transfer between the two airflows. The energy exchange bodies alternate between recovery and release modes such that when one energy exchange body is in the release mode the other is in the recovery mode. Each of the first and second energy absorbing bodies is divided into a first latent energy recovery portion which includes a moisture absorbent material so that it is arranged to absorb latent energy and a second sensible energy recovery portion which is substantially free from moisture absorbent material so as to absorb primarily sensible energy. The second portion is arranged to supply heat to freezing air entering the energy absorbing body to prevent condensation and frosting damage to the first portion.

A ventilation unit for an air-cooling tower and comprising a freewheel for drawing outside air and for discharging air in the upper portion of the ventilation unit. The freewheel has a rear face and a front face, the freewheel draws the outside air according to the direction of the axis of rotation of the freewheel by the front face and discharges the air radially to the axis of rotation of the freewheel, the ventilation unit being passed through by a drawing passage of outside air and by a discharge passage of air, the discharge passage of air directing the flow of air to the front of the plane formed by the front face. The subject matter also relates to an air-cooling tower and a method for drawing and for discharging air in such a ventilation unit.

COUNTER-FLOW ENERGY RECOVERY VENTILATOR (ERV) CORE

A heat and humidity exchanger has example application in exchanging heat and water vapor between fresh air entering a building and air being vented from the building. The heat and humidity exchanger has a self-supporting core formed from layered sheets of a moisture-permeable material. Plenums are arranged to direct fluid streams into and out of the core. The plenums may be on opposing sides of the core to permit counterflow exchange of heat and water vapor.
