An HVAC system includes an evaporator. The evaporator includes a sensor configured to measure a property value (i.e., a saturated suction temperature or a saturated suction pressure) associated with saturated refrigerant flowing through the evaporator. The system includes a variable-speed compressor configured to receive the refrigerant and compress the received refrigerant. The system includes a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor and the variable-speed compressor. The controller monitors the property value measured by the sensor and detects a system fault, based on the monitored property value. In response to detecting the system fault, the controller operates the compressor in a freeze-prevention mode, which is configured to maintain the property value above a setpoint value by adjusting a speed of the variable-speed compressor. This prevents or delays freezing of the evaporator during operation of the system during the detected system fault.

An object is to provide an air conditioning apparatus in which, even when a refrigerant leaks outside a casing, the leaked refrigerant is easily guided to the inside of the casing. In an indoor unit (3) of an air conditioning apparatus (1) that includes a casing (30) having an opening (64a), an indoor heat exchanger (51) disposed in the casing (30), a liquid-side connection pipe (53) or a gas-side connection pipe (54) extending from the indoor heat exchanger (51) to the outside of the casing (30) through the opening (64a), and an indoor-side dew condensation prevention member (71) that covers the periphery of the liquid-side connection pipe (53) or the gas-side connection pipe (54), an end portion of the liquid-side connection pipe (53) or the gas-side connection pipe (54) is used in a state of being covered from the periphery thereof by a connection-side dew condensation prevention member (72) or is covered from the periphery thereof by the indoor-side dew condensation prevention member (71), and there is formed a communication passage (91) that causes a space of a part covered by the dew condensation prevention member at the end portion of the liquid-side connection pipe (53) or the gas-side connection pipe (54) to be in communication with the internal space of the casing (30).

Ventilation and air conditioning system

A ventilation and air conditioning system includes: an air conditioner that cools air in an air conditioning room; a plurality of transfer air fans that are installed for a plurality of rooms, which are independent of the air conditioning room, in one-to-one correspondence and each deliver the air in the air conditioning room to a corresponding room; and a system controller. For each of the plurality of rooms, the system controller calculates a dew point temperature in the room on the basis of the temperature and the humidity in the room, determines, on the basis of the calculated dew point temperature in the room and the temperature in the air conditioning room, the occurrence of condensation resulting from delivery of the air in the air conditioning room to the room, and controls, according to the result of the determination, the airflow of the transfer air fan corresponding to the room.

Combined economizer and mixer for air handling unit

An air mixing device mitigates temperature stratification between two incoming air streams by creation of turbulent airflow through an arrangement of channels in the device. The device also provides selective passage of air for incoming airstreams to achieve functionality for damper control typically associated with separate inlet dampers. A method provides for selectively controlled airflow through the device so effective mixing occurs along with an economizer function to control separate airstreams such as outside air and return air. Existing dampers may be integrated with the air mixing device to control airflow in which flow of one airstream through the device increases as the flow of the other airstream is proportionately decreased. A minimum outside air duct can be incorporated in the mixing device to efficiently satisfy building code requirements regarding monitoring and recording of outside air input to air handling units.
