20210276890 · 2021-09-09 ·

Disclosed herein are corrosion prevention devices comprising a sacrificial anode and a mass sensor. Also disclosed herein are corrosion prevention devices comprising a controller in communication with the mass sensor and sacrificial anode. The controller can be configured to receive mass data to detect when the mass of the sacrificial anode has fallen below a predetermined threshold. Upon determining that the mass has fallen below the predetermined threshold, the controller can designate that the sacrificial anode is depleted. In response, the controller can output instructions for performing one or more corrective actions to protect the desired structure from corrosion.

Regulating temperature and reducing buildup in a water heating system

A water heating apparatus includes: a water container configured to heat water via a convection process by receiving the water through an inlet and passing water through an outlet; and one positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heating element or a plurality of PTC heating elements arranged within the water container and configured to be immersed during the convection process. The plurality of PTC heating elements have a gap between each PTC heating element. Further, the water heating apparatus includes at least one ultrasonic transducer attached to the water container and configured to project ultrasound onto and around the PTC heating element or the plurality PTC heating elements within the water container and to descale the PTC heating element or the plurality of PTC heating elements.

A water heater control system comprising a comprising a temperature sensor, an anode rod, and a controller. The controller is configured to receive a signal indicative of a temperature from the temperature sensor and apply a voltage and/or current to the anode rod. A mounting bracket mates with a spud of a water heater and provides a conduit space for conductors providing connectivity among the controller, temperature sensor, and anode rod. The mounting bracket may provide mechanical support for the anode rod and the temperature sensor. The mounting bracket may comprise a housing mechanically supporting and surrounding the controller.

Integrated Anode For A Heat Exchanger

A water heater can include a heat source and a heat exchanger that transfers heat to the water. A header attached to the heat exchanger provides an inlet and an outlet for water to flow into and out of the heat exchanger. The header can also include an anode assembly that releasably attaches to the header. The anode assembly can be located at a bottom of the header so that an anode in the anode assembly remains in contact with the water when water is flowing through the heat exchanger.

CATHODIC CORROSION AND DRY FIRE PROTECTION APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS

The metal tank portion of an electric water heater is protected against corrosion utilizing a corrosion protection system that detects a voltage potential between the sheath portion of a tank water-immersed electric heating element and the tank. In one embodiment of the corrosion protection system the sensed sheath/tank potential is utilized to enable a user of the water heater to accurately gauge the necessity of replacing a sacrificial anode extending into the tank. In another corrosion protection system, the sensed sheath/tank potential is utilized to provide impressed current cathodic protection of the tank and also to prevent dry firing of the electric water heater.

The present invention relates to a hot water storage boiler having a scale prevention function, the boiler being able to prevent scale without an additive or an ultrasonic device. Low-temperature water is sprayed toward the bottom portion of the combustion chamber using the spray pipe. This consequently lowers the temperature of the bottom portion of the combustion chamber, thereby reducing production of scale.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a heat exchanger capable of suppressing boiling and lime precipitation due to local overheating of a heating medium and at the same time improving heat transmittance efficiency. The heat exchanger of the present invention for achieving said purpose comprises: heating medium flow paths, through which a heating medium flows, inside a plurality of laminated plates; and a heat exchange unit in which combustion gas flow paths, through which a combustion gas flows, are alternately formed to be adjacent to each other, wherein the heat exchange units have a heating medium differential distribution unit which enables the flow rate of the heating medium to be differentially distributed to parallel heating medium flow paths of the heat exchange unit such that the flow rate of the heating medium passing through the parallel heating medium flow paths is balanced with the quantity of absorbed heat transmitted to the plates.
