Managing temperature overshoot
Disclosed are exemplary embodiments of methods for managing temperature overshoot. In an exemplary embodiment, a method includes determining a temperature delta between two sensor temperatures reported for a space at predetermined time intervals; determining a temperature rate of change by dividing the temperature delta with a time period that elapsed between the two sensor temperatures; determining a compensation by multiplying the temperature delta and the temperature rate of change; determining a compensated temperature by adding the compensation to a sensor temperature reported for the space; and using a controller and the compensated temperature to control operation of a heating system for the space.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTELLIGENTLY CONTROLLING A HYBRID CASCADE BOILER SYSTEM
The disclosed technology includes a controller for a cascade boiler system having both condensing and non-condensing boilers. The controller can receive supply water temperature data and return water temperature data to determine a current temperature differential in the system. The controller can determine a current load demand value using the current temperature differential and a set point temperature. If the current load demand value is less than or equal to a first load demand threshold, the controller can output a control signal for a condensing boiler to transition to a heating mode. If the current load demand value is greater than a second load demand threshold, the controller can output a control signal for a non-condensing boiler to transition to a heating mode.
CONTROL DEVICE FOR AIR CONDITIONING APPARATUS, AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM, CONTROL METHOD FOR AIR CONDITIONING APPARATUS, AND PROGRAM
A control device causes an air conditioning apparatus to execute a temperature adjustment operation of causing a first temperature to approach a first target temperature at a target time point and causing a second temperature to approach a second target temperature at the target time point. The first temperature is a surface temperature of a partition portion including at least one of a floor, a wall, and a ceiling facing a target space. The second temperature is an indoor temperature of the target space.

System and Apparatus for Conditioning of Indoor Air
A control system is provided for controlling heating and/or cooling with a conditioning load such as fan coils and chilled beams. Based on user input and ambient conditions, the control system determines a desired temperature for the liquid entering the load and combines fresh supply liquid (e.g., from a chiller or boiler) with a portion of the liquid that has passed through the load, to achieve the target load input temperature for the liquid. A recirculation pump may be used to return a portion of the liquid exiting the load for mixing with the fresh supply liquid and a control valve may be used to adjust the ratio of fresh supply liquid and recirculated liquid to achieve the targeted temperature. The control systems can be compatible with a variety of liquid supply systems such as two- and four-pipe systems.
SPARK IGNITION MODULE AND METHODS
A controller for use in a gas appliance system includes a circuit board, a plurality of connectors and a processor mounted on the circuit board. The processor controls operation of the gas appliance using, in part, at least one connector of the plurality of connectors and control settings for an intermittent pilot (IP) system in response to a user selection to configure the controller to control an IP system, and controls operation of the gas appliance using, in part, at least one connector of the plurality of connectors and control settings for a direct spark ignition (DSI) system in response to a user selection to configure the controller to control a DSI system.
HYDRONIC SPACE CONDITIONING AND WATER HEATING SYSTEMS WITH INTEGRATED DISINFECTING DEVICE
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a system for disinfecting water for hydronic space conditioning and domestic hot water. The system includes a thermal storage tank, a disinfecting device and a control unit. The control unit monitors an outlet temperature of water exiting the thermal storage tank. Further, the control unit calculates a temperature difference between a temperature threshold limit associated with the disinfecting device and the outlet temperature. The control unit transmits a first signal to the disinfecting device when the temperature difference is a positive value. The first signal operates the disinfecting device in the activation mode for heating the water to provide anti-bacterial sanitation. The control unit transmits a second signal to the disinfecting device for deactivating the disinfecting device when the temperature difference is a negative value. The sanitized water from the disinfecting device is used for conditioning an enclosure and a domestic hot water.
INTRAVENOUS FLUID WARMING SYSTEM
A fluid warming device has a heat exchange body having an input port and an output port and conducts fluid from the input port to the output port. The fluid warming device has a heater assembly configured to transfer heat to the heat exchange body. The fluid warming device may also have a temperature sensor for measuring a temperature of the heater assembly, and a power sensor for measuring a power to the heater assembly. The fluid warming device also has a controller connected to the temperature sensor and the power sensor. The controller calculates a fluid flow rate and a total volume of fluid delivered through the heat exchange body based on the temperature and the power.
Estimation of temperature states for an electric water heater from inferred resistance measurement
A water heater that includes a cylindrical storage tank and at least one heating element, is modeled using a one-dimensional model that includes: a vertical stack of disks representing the water volume in the cylindrical storage tank, and a stack of annular segments surrounding the vertical stack of disks. Various temperature measurements are determined via resistance calculations of the at least one heating element. The stack of annular segments represents the cylindrical wall of the cylindrical storage tank. The one-dimensional model may be used by a condition-based maintenance system comprising an electronic data processing device configured to detect a failure mode present in the water heater based on an output of the water heating model component. Some illustrative failure modes include insulation disturbance, heating element failure, excessive sediment buildup, or a drip tube rupture.
HEAT PUMP AND METHOD OF OPERATING HEAT PUMP
A heat pump may include a compressor configured to compress a refrigerant, a first temperature sensor provided in heating pipes connected to a heating device that heats an indoor space to sense a temperature of fluid flowing through the heating pipes, and a controller. The controller may be configured to determine whether a boiler is operating to heat an indoor space or is operating to supply hot water based on a sensing value of the first temperature sensor. The compressor may operate when the controller determines that the boiler is not operating to heat the indoor space and/or determines that the boiler is operating to supply hot water.
