Provided are an ice making device and a method of inspecting the same. In the ice making device, signal lines extending from a temperature sensor are connected to a drive unit. The drive unit performs an ice removal process of removing ice from an ice making tray when a temperature detected by the temperature sensor is equal to or lower than a set temperature. The drive unit performs a sensor inspection process of automatically inspecting whether the temperature sensor is abnormal based on an inspection execution command issued by an operation of a test switch during general processes including supplying water to the ice making tray and an ice making process. Thus, inspection of a drive mechanism of the drive unit and inspection of the temperature sensor can be performed in a series of operations.

Ice maker having a splash cover

An ice maker may include an assembly frame, an ice tray, a cam, a splash cover, and a biasing spring. The ice tray may define a cell for receipt of water for freezing and may be rotatably attached to the assembly frame to rotate about an axial direction. The cam may be attached to the ice tray and extend along the axial direction. The splash cover may be slidably attached to the assembly frame in mechanical communication with the cam to move between an elevated position and a lowered position according to a rotational position of the cam. The biasing spring may be disposed on the splash cover and urge the splash cover to the lowered position.

A method for preparing clear ice includes supporting an ice tray via a rotating assembly. The rotating assembly includes a shroud enclosing a bottom surface of an ice forming plate of the ice tray, and forms an interior passage formed below the ice forming plate. The method further includes supplying water into the ice tray and supplying an air flow from an intake duct via an air duct inlet to the interior passage. The method also includes controlling an angular rotation of the rotating assembly. The rotating assembly rotates relative to the intake duct and the air duct inlet, and the air flow is continuously supplied from the intake duct throughout the angular rotation.

In a refrigerator, a cam of a cam gear rotating by a driving motor is provided with a structure protruding from an edge portion of a cam gear to a center, thereby increasing the thickness of a cam surface. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the magnitude of force directly transferred from the cam gear to a magnet lever.
