A shelf assembly includes a frame assembly having a side member, wherein the frame assembly is operable between stowed and extended positions. A rack assembly includes a first rack hingedly coupled to a second rack. The first rack and the second rack are pivotally coupled to the side member of the frame assembly, and the rack assembly is operable between first and second positions. The first rack and the second rack are angled towards a pivot axis defined between the first rack and the second rack when the rack assembly is in the second position. The rack assembly moves from the first position to the second position as the frame assembly moves from the stowed position to the extended position.

The present invention relates to a household appliance and more particularly a refrigeration appliance having a shelf which is sectionally arranged to provide a space-increasing shelf assembly. The present invention more specifically relates to a refrigeration appliance having a sectionally organized shelf assembly (1) in a refrigeration cabin thereof, the shelf assembly (1) comprising a front and a rear shelf units (2, 3) respectively neighboring in the depthwise direction of the refrigeration cabin, the front and rear shelf units (2, 3) being displaceable relative to a pair of brackets to which they are attachable.

The refrigerator further includes a guard that is rotatably connected to the front shelf. A shelf assembly for a refrigerator includes a shelf; a base member defining a channel; a link member coupling the shelf to the base member such that the shelf is movable relative to the base member between a first position and a second position; a first pin pivotably coupling the link member to the base member; and a second pin pivotably coupling the link member to the shelf. The channel of the base member receives the second pin in the second position.
