Stave cooler with common coolant collar
All of a cast-iron or cast-copper stave cooler's weight is supported inside a furnace containment shell by a single gas-tight steel collar on its backside face. All the coolant piping in each cooler has every external fluid connection collected and routed together through the one steel collar. A wear protection barrier is disposed on the hot face. At least one of horizontal rows of ribs and channels retain metal inserts or refractory bricks, or pockets that assist in the retention of castable cement and/or accretions frozen in place from a melt, or an application of an area of hardfacing that is welded on in bead, crosshatch, or weave pattern.
Top loading roof for electric arc, metallurgical or refining furnaces and system thereof
A method of quickly changing a portion of the roof of an electric arc furnace having a top loading roof system comprising providing at least one pie-shaped water cooled panel supported below the roof support beams and located to protect the underside hot face of the roof support beams, providing at least one quick water disconnect for connecting the at least one pie-shaped water cooled panel to a water supply, raising and removing the at least one pie-shaped water cooled roof panel, replacing the at least one pie-shaped water cooled roof panel with another pie-shaped water cooled panel or repairing the at least one pie-shaped water cooled roof panel, and continuing operation of the furnace.

Method and Apparatus for Acoustically Detecting Fluid Leaks
A system used in monitoring one or more operating parameters of a coolant-fluid cooled industrial installation includes one or more an acoustic sensors positioned to receive and sense one or more acoustic signals in an installation coolant-fluid flow. The acoustic sensor assembly operates to emit and sense acoustic signals at frequency ranges above and/or below the background noise frequency ranges which are associated with the normal industrial installation operation. Output data signals representative of sensed acoustic signals are compared to target frequency profiles predetermined as representing an acoustic frequency associated with a predetermined installation operating parameter or event.
FLUID COOLED HOUSING SYSTEM FOR INSTRUMENTS OF A METAL MAKING FURNACE
A fluid cooled housing system for use in metal making furnaces. In particular, the present invention related to a novel and inventive housing and guard member configured to receive and protect an implement, such as a burner or a lance, used in connection with metal making furnaces. A preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a housing comprising an outer shell and an inner shell that define a fluid chamber, an end cap, a bushing insert, a face plate, a fluid inlet, and a fluid outlet. Both the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet are preferably in fluid communication with both the fluid chamber defined by the shells and a fluid chamber defined by the bushing insert. In alternative preferred embodiments, the housing system further comprises a guard member that preferably envelopes and further protects the fluid cooled housing.

Charging installation of a metallurgical reactor
The invention relates to a charging installation (1) of a metallurgical reactor, with a cooling assembly (4) disposed for cooling a reactor side of the charging installation (1). In order to facilitate the installation and maintenance of a heat protection shield in a charging installation of a metallurgical reactor, the cooling assembly (4) comprises a plurality of cooling panels (10), each cooling panel (10) comprising at least one coolant channel (12). The channel (12) is formed as a groove in the base plate (11), which groove is covered by a cover plate (13) mounted on the base plate (11).

SHAFT FURNACE CONDITION MONITORING
A shaft furnace, in particular a blast furnace, includes a metal jacket defining the furnace outer wall and a protective layer protecting the inner surface of the outer wall. At least one condition monitoring probe is arranged inside within the protective layer to monitor the latter. The condition monitoring probe is connected to a wireless module arranged outside the outer wall to transmit condition monitoring data. The wireless module is located inside a casing mounted to the outer surface of the metal jacket. The condition monitoring probe includes one or more conductive loops positioned at predetermined depths below the front face of the cooling plate body, or of the refractory lining, so that wear of the body, resp. refractory, can be detected by a change of an electrical characteristic of the loop(s) due to abrasion.
METHODS OF PROTECTING FURNACE ELECTRODES WITH COOLING LIQUID THAT CONTAINS AN ADDITIVE
A method for forming a protective antioxidative barrier on the furnace electrodes using a chemically altered cooling liquid containing an antioxidant additive. This method can be applied to electrodes used in electric arc furnaces and ladle metallurgy furnaces. The method can involve spraying the cooling liquid onto the electrode, thereby forming the protective antioxidative barrier and reducing the oxidation of the electrode.
