APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF HIGH PURITY COPPER-BASED ALLOYS
In an aspect, a method of manufacturing a high purity copper-based alloy comprises providing in a melting furnace a feedstock and melting the feedstock. The method additionally includes bubbling an inert gas into the molten copper-based alloy to form the high purity copper-based alloy. Aspects are also directed to an apparatus and a method of fabricating an apparatus for manufacturing the high purity copper-based alloy.
Crucible induction furnace and method of checking status thereof
The functional condition of an induction crucible furnace is checked by first establishing a set-point parameter corresponding to an optimum functional condition of the induction crucible furnace and characterizing the vibratory behavior of same. Then, during normal operation of the furnace, an actual-value parameter of the vibratory behavior is determined. These two parameters are then compared and, if a magnitude of a difference therebetween exceeds a threshold, an alarm is generated.
COMPACT AND LIGHT ELECTROMAGNETIC SHIELDING FOR A HIGH-POWER INDUCTOR
The electromagnetic shielding of the inductor comprises a main field-concentrating shielding composed of vertical columns, and the columns are composed of ferromagnetic blocks separated by non-magnetic gaps which contribute to increasing the magnetic reluctance in order to strongly reduce the heat losses. The main shielding is supplemented by an outer conductive casing which confines the residual field that has escaped from the main shielding. The shielding is compact, the mass of ferromagnetic material to be used is modest, autonomous cooling of the main shielding is unnecessary and the electromagnetic coupling between the casing and the main shielding reduces or even eliminates the effects on the electrical characteristics of the equipment.
Device and method for production of purified magnesium
A device for producing purified, especially high-purity, magnesium includes a reactor for vacuum distillation that is extended along a longitudinal axis (L). The reactor defines a reactor inner chamber having a heating region for heating magnesium. A crucible forms a crucible inner chamber for receiving purified magnesium vaporized and condensed by the device. A radial projection in the heating region defines a contact surface that extends essentially transverse to the longitudinal axis (L) and forms an essentially sealed connection with an edge of the crucible adjacent to the crucible inner chamber.
Cold crucible comprising metal oxide barrier and method for manufacturing same
A metal oxide barrier and a connecting method for solving the problems in which sectors of an existing cold crucible are connected by means of a mica plate and the mica plate is damaged due to arcing and the like and in which the sectors are strongly connected by means of the mica plate and thus are difficult to replace and maintain. A cold crucible, comprising a metal oxide barrier, according to the present invention can prevent arcing, enables reduction of damage on the edge part of a water cooling sector due to a molten material and thus enhances durability. Moreover, the metal oxide barrier can easily be replaced compared to an existing mica plate and thus enables easy maintenance and repair.
