Polymeric tube-in-shell heat exchangers with twisted tubes are provided. The heat exchanger may include one or more polymeric tube bundles, wherein each of the one or more polymeric tube bundles includes at least one tube twisted about its length or at least one pair of tubes twisted or wound around each other. The presently disclosed polymeric tube-in-shell heat exchangers with twisted tubes may be especially suited for applications where the use of polymer tubes offers advantages, such as in the case of acid solutions, food and beverage fluids, and carbon capture applications where the use of metal heat exchangers destroy the amines used for capture.
Mitigation of Shell-Side Liquid Maldistribution in Coil Wound Heat Exchanger Bundles
Described herein are coil wound heat exchangers (CWHEs), and methods of cooling and/or liquefying streams of fluid using said CWHEs, in which one or more tube layers of the tube bundle are provided with a non-uniform tube winding angle and tube pitch in order to facilitate the equalization of radial pressure imbalances on the shell side of the CWHE, thereby reducing radial maldistribution of fluid on the shell side and improving the heat transfer efficiency of the CWHE.

HEAT EXCHANGER
A heat exchanger assembly including at least one coil shaped heat exchanger pipe assembly for passing through a fluid to be heated. The heat exchanger pipe assembly has an inlet and an outlet and includes coil windings extending concentrically around a coil axis. The heat exchanger assembly further includes a housing in which the heat exchanger pipe assembly is received, such that a flue gas transport gap extends between the heat exchanger pipe assembly and the circumferential wall. In use, hot flue gas passes the coil windings, thereby imparting the heat to the fluid present in the heat exchanger pipe assembly. The housing has a first and a second end wall which close off a first end and a second end of the circumferential wall. The second end wall includes a burner cover opening in which a burner cover can be mounted. The housing is made of plastic and the heat exchanger pipe assembly is clamped in axial direction between the first and the second end wall of the plastic housing.
SPIRAL TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER
A heat exchanger includes a first fluid pathway enclosed in a heat exchanger body to convey a first fluid through the heat exchanger body and a second fluid pathway enclosed in the heat exchanger body to convey a second fluid through the heat exchanger body and facilitate thermal energy exchange between the first fluid and the second fluid. The first fluid pathway and the second fluid pathway together are arranged in a spiral arrangement extending along a central axis of the heat exchanger.
HEAT EXCHANGE CONDUIT AND HEAT EXCHANGER
A heat exchange conduit includes a conduit body extending along a longitudinal axis between an inlet at one end thereof and an outlet at an opposed end. The conduit body has at least one conduit wall. At least one of said conduit walls is a heat-exchange wall shaped to be in heat exchange relationship with an object or fluid in contact therewith. An elongated turbulence strip is disposed within the conduit body and extends along a length thereof. The turbulence strip has longitudinally spaced-apart flow impact walls. Each flow impact wall has a peripheral rim and is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. A flow gap for fluid flow is defined between at least a portion of the peripheral rim of each flow impact wall and an adjacent inner surface of the at least one conduit wall.
INTERTWINED COIL HEAT EXCHANGER
The present invention relates to the field of heat exchangers, especially those having a plurality of tubular fluid channels formed as intertwined coils, with each of the centre paths of the coils forming a helix, and to a reactor for supercritical water oxidation comprising such a heat exchanger.
COUNTER SPIRAL TUBE AND SHELL HEAT EXCHANGER
A heat exchanger has an outer shell enclosing an inner chamber and extending between a first inlet and a first outlet. The chamber receives a separating wall. The shell extends between axial ends, and generally along a helix. The helix is defined with the wall moving in a continuous manner along a first axial direction and with a circumferential component between the first inlet and the first outlet. A plurality of tubes extend through openings in the separating wall and generally along a helix. The plurality of tubes extend from a second inlet and a second outlet, and with the helix defined along the first axial direction and with a component in a circumferential direction. A method and a temperature control system are also disclosed.
