An air gun is provided with a magazine safety system and methods of making the air gun safe utilizing the magazine. The air gun includes a magazine well protrusion (e.g., floorplate) configured to extend into the magazine well when no magazine is properly inserted into and received in the magazine well. In the extended position, the protrusion prevents actuation of the main valve of the air gun. When a magazine is properly inserted into the magazine well, the protrusion is pushed into a recessed or depressed position by the interaction of the magazine with the magazine well such that the protrusion does not prevent actuation of the main valve of the air gun.

An air gun is provided with a magazine safety system and methods of making the air gun safe utilizing the magazine. A firearm, especially a pistol, having a receiver and a guide rail for a slide that has a barrel, a retaining spring, and a slide stop device, the firearm further including a disassembling lever that is rotatable in the receiver, configured so that when the lever is in one end position: a) an abutment of the slide abuts against the lever and cannot be moved further forward, b) a fully inserted magazine is in contact with the lever and prevents any rotation, and c) an upper surface of the lever lies opposite an edge of the slide. When the magazine is withdrawn and the slide is stopped by the slide stop device, the lever can be rotated to allow the forward movement of the receiver.

A semiautomatic pistol has a takedown lever which also acts as an ejector. The takedown lever includes an ejector head and a finger. The finger is engageable with a sear when the takedown lever is rotated by depressing the ejector head through the ejection port when the slide is out of battery. This rotates the sear so that the slide may be removed by sliding it toward the muzzle end of the pistol.

A semiautomatic pistol has a takedown lever which also acts as an ejector. The takedown lever includes an ejector head and a finger. The finger is engageable with a sear when the takedown lever is rotated by depressing the ejector head through the ejection port when the slide is out of battery. This rotates the sear so that the slide may be removed by sliding it toward the muzzle end of the pistol.

A replaceable slide notch system for a firearm that includes a replaceable slide notch component dimensioned to fit within a corresponding cavity of a slide. The replaceable slide notch component includes a slide lock notch surface that locks the slide when the firearm's ammunition is exhausted. A second replaceable slide notch component has a second slide lock notch surface that locks the slide at a further rearward position than that of the first slide notch component, thus providing greater chambering/operating force when the slide is released.

A bolt catch to be utilized in conjunction with an upper receiver and the lower receiver of a firearm, including at least some of a bolt catch having a bolt catch upper button portion and a bolt catch lower button portion, wherein the bolt catch is pivotally attached or coupled within at least a portion of a lower bolt catch recess of a lower receiver, wherein at least a portion of a bolt catch upper button portion recess extends above a planar surface formed by the lower receiver proximate the lower bolt catch recess; and an upper bolt catch recess formed in at least a portion of the upper receiver, wherein at least a portion of the bolt catch upper button portion recess is received at least partially within the upper bolt catch recess if the upper receiver is operably attached or coupled to the lower receiver.

A bolt catch to be utilized in conjunction with an upper receiver and the lower receiver of a firearm, including at least some of a bolt catch having a bolt catch upper button portion and a bolt catch lower button portion, wherein the bolt catch is pivotally attached or coupled within at least a portion of a lower bolt catch recess of a lower receiver, wherein at least a portion of a bolt catch upper button portion recess extends above a planar surface formed by the lower receiver proximate the lower bolt catch recess; and an upper bolt catch recess formed in at least a portion of the upper receiver, wherein at least a portion of the bolt catch upper button portion recess is received at least partially within the upper bolt catch recess if the upper receiver is operably attached or coupled to the lower receiver.
