An apparatus and method for modifying a handgun to accept an optical sight comprises a modified slide mechanism adapted to include a flat recessed rear section configured to receive an adapter plate for mounting an optical sight. Various embodiments include modified internal components used to replace stock components what will no longer fit within the modified profile of the slide mechanism. Replacement of the slide mechanism and associated internal components will allow a user to add an optical sight to an existing handgun.

A firearm operating system includes a housing, a central pivoting member disposed within the housing, a trigger including a portion disposed within the housing and a portion extending outside the housing such that the portion of the trigger within the housing includes a hole and at least one finger that extends in a first direction from the hole. Due to movement of the trigger, the at least one finger presses against the central pivoting member to cause the central pivoting member to rotate.

A firearm operating system includes a housing, a central pivoting member disposed within the housing, a trigger including a portion disposed within the housing and a portion extending outside the housing such that the portion of the trigger within the housing includes a hole and at least one finger that extends in a first direction from the hole. Due to movement of the trigger, the at least one finger presses against the central pivoting member to cause the central pivoting member to rotate.

A firearm (1) includes a detection system (10) suitable to detect a configuration change of the firearm from an initial configuration. The detection system (10) includes a detection device (100), on the slide (20) suitable to be moved, starting from an initial position, to a detection position in which the detection device (100) detects a configuration change of the firearm. An idler device (200) on the slide (20) engages with the detection device (100) which moves the idler device (200). The detection device (200) includes at least one primary sensor element (250), a receiver device (300) on the main body (5) suitable to receive the information of the configuration change of the firearm from the primary sensor element (250) and at least a secondary sensor element (350).

A firearm (1) includes a detection system (10) suitable to detect a configuration change of the firearm from an initial configuration. The detection system (10) includes a detection device (100), on the slide (20) suitable to be moved, starting from an initial position, to a detection position in which the detection device (100) detects a configuration change of the firearm. An idler device (200) on the slide (20) engages with the detection device (100) which moves the idler device (200). The detection device (200) includes at least one primary sensor element (250), a receiver device (300) on the main body (5) suitable to receive the information of the configuration change of the firearm from the primary sensor element (250) and at least a secondary sensor element (350).

A pistol has a frame with a striker operably connected to the frame. A trigger is operably connected to the frame. A transmission element is operably connected between the trigger and striker to motivate the striker to discharge the firearm in response to actuation of the trigger. The transmission element is movable between a first position in which operation connection from the trigger to the striker is enabled, and a second position in which operation connection from the trigger to the striker is disabled in response to acceleration forces due to dropping the pistol.

A pistol has a frame with a striker operably connected to the frame. A trigger is operably connected to the frame. A transmission element is operably connected between the trigger and striker to motivate the striker to discharge the firearm in response to actuation of the trigger. The transmission element is movable between a first position in which operation connection from the trigger to the striker is enabled, and a second position in which operation connection from the trigger to the striker is disabled in response to acceleration forces due to dropping the pistol.

Trigger assemblies are provided for restraining a firing pin of a firearm on a selective basis. The triggers assemblies include a first and a second lever mounted for rotation within a housing. The first lever is configured to be rotated by the user, and rotation of the first lever imparts rotation to the second lever to initiate the discharge of the firearm. The trigger assemblies also include a safety mechanism having a safety lever that is movable between a first and a second angular position. The safety lever is configured to prevent movement of the first and second levers when the safety lever is in its first angular position, thereby preventing discharge of the firearm.

Trigger assemblies are provided for restraining a firing pin of a firearm on a selective basis. The triggers assemblies include a first and a second lever mounted for rotation within a housing. The first lever is configured to be rotated by the user, and rotation of the first lever imparts rotation to the second lever to initiate the discharge of the firearm. The trigger assemblies also include a safety mechanism having a safety lever that is movable between a first and a second angular position. The safety lever is configured to prevent movement of the first and second levers when the safety lever is in its first angular position, thereby preventing discharge of the firearm.
