A method for assisting a firearm user with a vision condition includes: (a) fitting a housing on the firearm, the housing at least partially enclosing an aiming indicia including (1) a rear sight having two spaced apart sight elements defining a rear sight gap and (2) a front sight configured to be aligned with the rear sight gap, wherein the rear sight sight elements and the front sight each include a transparent optical lens disposed on a rear side, and wherein each optical lens has a positive optical power configured to provide substantially clear vision of the aiming indicia when viewed through the optical lens; and (b) assisting the firearm user with a vision condition by aiming the firearm at a target to bring into focus the rear sight and the front sight at the rear sight gap.

The holster body comprises a pair of opposing side wall portions and an upper wall portion. The holster body may define a rear accessory sight opening for receiving the handgun with the reflex sight attached thereto. The holster system may include a first rear sight cover selectively and robustly coupleable to the holster body so as to cover the rear accessory sight opening when a handgun with conventional sights extending upwardly about 3/8 of an inch or less mounted thereto is used in conjunction with the holster system. The holster system may also include a second rear sight cover selectively coupleable to the holster body so as to cover the sight opening when a handgun with a reflex sight mounted thereto is used in conjunction with the holster system.

Certain aspects of a novel weapon sight system combine a direct view, a visible light video view, and an infrared (IR) video view mode. Each of the view modes may be viewed individually or simultaneously with one or more of the other view modes through a single viewing aperture. Further, the one or more view-modes may be provided while providing a bore-sighted reticle superimposed on the selected view. Further, the reticle may be powered separately from the video view electronics enabling use of the reticle regardless of the power status video view electronics.

The sleeve may be movable between an operating condition in which the sight facility is in a first position and a stowage condition in which the sight facility is rotationally offset from the first position.
