Designs and methods are provided for a retractable broadhead blade. In one exemplary embodiment the broadhead blade is configured to be received in a slot in a broadhead body, and moveable between a retracted or in-flight position, and a deployed or target penetrating position. The broadhead blade includes a front end that faces substantially forward when the blade is in the retracted position, a distal end opposite the front end, an outward facing sharpened leading edge between the front end of the blade and the distal end, and an inward facing trailing edge opposite the leading edge. The blade further includes a spring member with a contact surface configured to bear against a blade locating portion of a broadhead body when the blade is in the retracted, or in-flight position.

A projectile may be formed having a caliber in the range from 4.6 mm to 20 mm for ammunition. The projectile may be a deformation bullet, a partial fragmentation bullet, a partial or full jacket bullet, a hard-core bullet or tracer bullet. The projectile may be formed by cold forming, in particular extrusion, from an intermediate with a tube section of substantially constant wall thickness, which constitutes at least 50% of the longitudinal extension of the intermediate.

Extended range bullet

A cartridge with an expanding bullet that has advantageous terminal effects over an extended range. The expanding bullet including a bullet body including a metal jacket extending from a tail portion to a nose portion and surrounding an interior solid core and defining a forward opening and interior cavity. A tip has an exterior surface substantially flush with an exterior surface of the metal jacket. The tip has a main portion forward of the opening and a tip retention portion that at least partially fills the interior cavity. In certain embodiments the tip retention portion includes one or more fluid entry facilitation means such as a fracture regions configured to, upon impact of the bullet with a target, fracture or deform to expose one or more fluid pathways into the interior cavity and to a forward facing interior surface for initiating expansion of the expanding bullet.

Expanding bullet

An expanding bullet having a one-piece structure has a cylindrical section and a section that is essentially shaped as a truncated cone, with the bullet tip being situated at the end of the latter section, which end faces away from the cylindrical section, and at least one planned breaking point being formed in this section, wherein the section shaped as a truncated cone is divided into segments and has a channel that has a mouth in the region of the bullet tip, wherein the channel has a bell-shaped widened region, which has its greatest diameter in the region of the transition from the cylindrical section to the section shaped as a truncated cone.

A broadhead containing independent pivotable and retractable cutting blades configured for selective locking in a non-deployed and deployed position. The broadhead further contains a non-rotating blade configured for reciprocating movement in order to selectively lock the pivoting blades in their non-deployed and deployed positions. Impact of the broadhead with a target will cause the pivoting blades to transition from the non-deployed position to the deployed position and thereby create a larger cutting diameter.
