The present invention provides a subsonic ammunition cartridge including a polymeric casing body comprising a generally cylindrical hollow polymer body having a body base at a first end thereof and a mouth at a second end to define a propellant chamber; a propellant insert positioned in the propellant chamber to reduce the internal volume of the propellant chamber, wherein the propellant chamber has an internal volume that is between 25 and 80% less than the open internal volume of a standard casing of equivalent caliber; and a primer insert positioned at the body base and in communication with the propellant chamber.

Embodiments are directed cook-off mitigation systems. As assembled, a munition fuzewell is torqued into the aft end of a munition. The fuzewell is hollow and has an inner and an outer surface. The hollow fuzewell is configured to release during cook-off. Release is assisted by employing a biased equivalent strength threaded release ring concentric about the fuzewell. The biased equivalent strength threaded release ring has a threaded inner surface and a threaded outer surface. The biased equivalent strength threaded release ring's threaded inner surface threadingly-engages with threads on the fuzewell's outer surface. A munition case is concentric about the biased equivalent strength threaded release ring.

The invention relates to a detonator, in particular for a detonation of pyrotechnics. The invention additionally relates to a munition having said detonator. The aim of the invention is to achieve a high degree of variability when using practice munitions in particular and other non-lethal munitions. This is achieved in that the detonator consists at least of a detonation transmitter, wherein the detonation transmitter is coated with a thin layer of an explosive. The detonation transmitter can be a shock tube without an explosive capsule.

Disclosed is tagged ammunition, methods for making it, using it and detecting it to reduce gun violence. When implemented together with a smart phone coupled readers, standalone readers, or at a security center, software is included to allow integration of signals detected by multiple readers in the vicinity to map detectable ammunition detected by readers designed to detect tagged ammunition as a proxy for loaded firearms. This makes possible securing an area of interest, when combined with placing of at least one networkable reader in the vicinity of the area of interest; and connecting the one or more readers to a monitoring center. Such monitoring centers may be associated with schools, shopping malls, streets, public meetings, public events, housing complexes, an area being swept for loaded guns, an area being monitored for gang activity, or even a residence.
