A protective coating system includes a turbine engine component substrate formed of a ceramic matrix composite material, an environmental barrier coating layer including a rare earth disilicate material formed directly on the substrate, and a thermal barrier coating layer including a porous rare earth monosilicate material having a metal silicate material infiltrated within at least a portion of the pores formed directly on the environmental barrier coating layer.

Low temperature-cured corrosion inhibition coating

Disclosed is a corrosion inhibition coating, comprising: a base comprising a silicate matrix, wherein aluminum, an aluminum alloy, or a combination thereof, is present within the silicate matrix; and an inhibitor comprising: zinc molybdate, cerium citrate, magnesium metasilicate, a metal phosphate silicate, or a combination thereof, wherein a curing temperature of the corrosion inhibition coating is about 20° C. to about 190° C., preferably about 20° C. to about 120° C. Also disclosed is a substrate coated with the corrosion inhibition coating, wherein the substrate is a peened part.

CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE WITH INTERFACIAL COATING SYSTEM

A ceramic matrix composite includes a ceramic matrix, fibers embedded in the ceramic matrix, and an interfacial coating system on each of the fibers. The interfacial coating system includes alternating layers of boron nitride layers of individual thicknesses of about 50 nanometers to 200 nanometers and carbon layers of individual thicknesses of less than 5 nanometers.

One embodiment is an article including a substrate having a silicon-bearing ceramic matrix composite; and a layer disposed over the substrate, wherein the layer includes silicon and a dopant, the dopant including aluminum. In another embodiment, the article includes a ceramic matrix composite substrate, wherein the composite includes a silicon-bearing ceramic and a dopant, the dopant including aluminum; a bond coat disposed over the substrate, where the bond coat includes elemental silicon, a silicon alloy, a silicide, or combinations including any of the aforementioned; and a coating disposed over the bond coat, the coating including a silicate (such as an aluminosilicate or rare earth silicate), yttria-stabilized zirconia, or a combination including any of the aforementioned.

A vane for a turbine engine includes a body in the form of an aerodynamic profile formed by a shell produced from a composite material formed from a three-dimensional textile of reinforcement fibres consolidated by a hardened resin. The shell forms a pressure surface and a suction surface of the vane connected to each other while forming on one side a leading edge and on the opposite side a trailing edge of the vane, and a core including a core body surrounded by the shell. The core is produced from non-porous plastics material, and the core body is in the form of an aerodynamic profile and delimits at least one closed cavity of the core.

WOVEN FIBROUS PREFORM FOR PRODUCING A PART FROM COMPOSITE MATERIAL, IN PARTICULAR A TURBOMACHINE BLADE

A fibrous preform for forming the fibrous reinforcement of a composite material part, the fibrous preform being made as a single piece and obtained by three-dimensional weaving, the preform including first and second skins and a longitudinal stiffening portion connecting the first to the second skin, the longitudinal stiffening portion forming a stiffening element of the part in the longitudinal direction. The preform has an intermediate portion extending in the longitudinal direction between two end portions. The longitudinal stiffening portion includes, in the intermediate portion, longitudinal non-woven threads or strands held together by first transverse threads or strands coming from the first skin and second transverse threads or strands coming from the second skin. In the end portions, the longitudinal threads or strands of the longitudinal stiffening portion are woven with the transverse threads or strands.

Coated member and method of manufacturing the same

Provided are a coated member in which damage of a coating film can be suppressed in a high temperature environment and the coating may be performed at low cost, and a method of manufacturing the same. A coated member includes a bond coat and a top coat sequentially laminated on a substrate made of a Si-based ceramic or a SiC fiber-reinforced SiC matrix composite, wherein the top coat includes a layer composed of a mixed phase of a (Y.sub.1-aLn.sub.1a).sub.2Si.sub.2O.sub.7 solid solution (here, Ln.sub.1 is any one of Nd, Sm, Eu, and Gd) and Y.sub.2SiO.sub.5 or a (Y.sub.1-bLn.sub.1′.sub.b).sub.2SiO.sub.5 solid solution (here, Ln.sub.1′ is any one of Nd, Sm, Eu, and Gd), or a mixed phase of a (Y.sub.1-cLn.sub.2c).sub.2Si.sub.2O.sub.7 solid solution (here, Ln.sub.2 is any one of Sc, Yb, and Lu) and Y.sub.2SiO.sub.5 or a (Y.sub.1-dLn.sub.2′.sub.d).sub.2SiO.sub.5 solid solution (here, Ln.sub.2′ is any one of Sc, Yb, and Lu).
