For a given cylinder in the engine having two intake valves and two exhaust valves, one of the intake valves is driven by a bucket tappet, while the other intake valve is actuated via a roller finger follower. Similarly, one of the exhaust valves is driven by a bucket tappet, while the other exhaust valve is actuated via a roller finger follower. The intake valves read inputs form an intake camshaft, and the exhaust valves read inputs from an exhaust camshaft.

INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, STRADDLED VEHICLE, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder head including a first valve lifter hole, a first camshaft rotatably supported on the cylinder head, a first valve lifter inserted in the first valve lifter hole, a first valve spring that biases the first valve lifter toward the first cam of the first camshaft, and an oil supply passage having a first oil supply port formed on the inner circumferential surface of the first valve lifter hole and a first passage connected to the first oil supply port. An upper end of the first oil supply port is located upward relative to the upper surface of the first valve lifter when the first valve lifter is in the lower position. A lower end of the first oil supply port is located downward relative to the upper surface of the first valve lifter when the first valve lifter is in the upper position.

An internal combustion engine 5 includes an intake valve spring 60 including a closely-wound section 62 and a sparsely-wound section 63. The closely-wound section 62 is provided so that elemental wire portions thereof are closely in contact with each other in the direction of the coil axial line L1 while an intake valve closes an intake port. The sparsely-wound section 63 is provided so that elemental wire portions thereof are spaced apart from each other in the direction of the coil axial line L1 while the intake valve closes the intake port. The coil outer diameter D62 of at least a part of the closely-wound section 62 is smaller than the coil outer diameter D63 of at least a part of the sparsely-wound section 63.

VALVE TRAIN WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION AND COMPRESSION RELEASE

An internal combustion engine system includes an engine with a plurality of pistons housed in respective ones of a plurality of cylinders, an air intake system to provide air to the plurality of cylinders through respective ones of a plurality of intake valves, an exhaust system to release exhaust gas from the plurality of cylinders through respective one of a plurality of exhaust valves. A valve train is provided for cylinder deactivation of a first part of the plurality of cylinders and compression release braking on a second part of the plurality of cylinders.

Poppet valve for internal combustion engine
20200308998 · 2020-10-01 · ·

Poppet valve for an internal combustion engine including a valve stem and a single circular valve head attached at one end of the valve stem. The valve head has a circular peripheral contour and an arcuate edge without any sharp elements to avoid turbulence and improve flow around the valve to therefore maximize flow velocity. This translates into increased cylinder breathing in the intake cycle and reducing back pressure in the exhaust cycle.

Variable valve drive of an internal combustion engine

A variable valve drive of an internal combustion engine is provided that includes at least one gas exchange valve, the valve stroke of said gas exchange valve predefined by cams of a camshaft, and by at least one switchable rocker arm. The switchable rocker arm, having a first lever and a second lever, selectively transmits cam lift to the gas exchange valve. The second lever is selectively coupled to the first lever by a coupling. The coupling is activatable by an elongated activation arm on which one leaf spring is disposed for the coupling of the switchable rocker arm. The elongated activation arm is longitudinally displaceable from a locking position to an unlocking position by a linear actuator. A damper mass is disposed or configured to be capable of oscillating on the elongated activation arm and/or on the leaf spring of the elongated activation arm.

METHOD OF FILLING A FLUID HOUSING WITH FLUID

A method of filling at least one fluid housing with fluid is disclosed. The method includes: (a) arranging at least one fluid housing within a sealable vessel containing a fluid and attached to a vacuum; and (b) activating the vacuum such that air is withdrawn from the sealable vessel and the fluid is drawn into the at least one fluid housing.

FUEL INJECTION PUMP
20200284230 · 2020-09-10 ·

A fuel injection pump includes a cam rotating with a camshaft, a tappet reciprocating in response to rotation of the cam, a cylinder, a plunger, and a thrust washer. The thrust washer is located between the cam and a casing housing the camshaft at both ends of the cam in an axial direction of the cam. The tappet includes a tappet body, a roller, a supporting member, and a contact surface formed at an outer peripheral part of the tappet. The thrust washer includes a rotation restricting part that protrudes toward the tappet over a maximum lift position. The rotation restricting part restricts rotation of the tappet relative to a center axis of the tappet body by being contact with the contact surface.
