The filter medium preferably comprises of any materials that are deemed by the scientific community as sorbents that are capable of absorbing exhaust gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, particulate matter, or other hydrocarbons.

EXHAUST GAS TREATMENT ASSEMBLY

An exhaust gas treatment assembly for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a housing having a circumferential wall and at least one base wall which in an external circumferential region is connected to the circumferential wall. In a housing interior space, which is defined by the circumferential wall and the base wall, at least one exhaust gas treatment unit is positioned so as to be removable from the housing. At least one base wall is an interchangeable base wall which is releasably connected to the circumferential wall via a connection assembly. The connection assembly includes a first connection portion, a first axial support portion, and on the base wall includes a second connection portion which via at least one connection member is releasably connected to the first connection portion and a second axial support portion is supported on the first axial support portion.

Mounting mat for an exhaust gas treatment device

A mounting mat (4) for an exhaust gas treatment device (10), the mounting mat (4) comprises two opposing main surfaces (5, 6) and at least one edge surface (7) extending between the main surfaces; at least one portion of the at least one edge surface comprises a protection coating comprising inorganic particles (15), and the inorganic particles have an average diameter of at least 1 μm.

Filtration assembly for use in aftertreatment systems for internal combustion engines

A filtration assembly structured to filter reductant includes an outer housing and an inner housing. The inner housing is positioned within the outer housing. The inner housing is structured to contain the reductant and operable between a first state in which the inner housing has a first volume and a second state in which the inner housing has a second volume that is larger than the first volume, the inner housing including an end face. The inner housing is separated from the outer housing by a gap when the inner housing is in the first state. A volume of the gap decreases as the inner housing transitions from the first state to the second state and increases as the inner housing transitions from the second state to the first state.

SINGLE MODULE INTEGRATED AFTERTREATMENT MODULE

A selective catalytic reduction system may include a single housing defining a single centerline axis. The selective catalytic reduction system may also include a diesel particulate filter disposed within the single housing and having a DPF center axis aligned with the single centerline axis. The selective catalytic reduction system may also include an SCR catalyst disposed with-in the single housing and having a center axis aligned with the single centerline axis. In some implementations, the diesel particulate filter may include one or more SiC filters. In some implementations, the SCR catalyst may include one or more extruded SCR catalysts.

The invention relates to an exhaust aftertreatment arrangement (100) for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, said exhaust aftertreatment arrangement (100) comprising a fluid passage (30) for exhaust gases from said exhaust system, said fluid passage (30) defining an inner perimeter (32) and an exhaust aftertreatment unit (40) comprising an exhaust aftertreatment element (42) confined by an outer wall (44) defining an outer periphery (46) of the exhaust aftertreatment unit (40), the exhaust aftertreatment unit (40) being sealingly arranged in said fluid passage (30) for enabling flow of said exhaust gases through said exhaust aftertreatment element (42). A leakage treatment member (50) comprising an exhaust aftertreatment component is arranged between said inner perimeter (32) of the fluid passage (30) and said outer periphery (46) of said outer wall (44) of the exhaust aftertreatment unit (40), for aftertreatment of any leakage of said flow of exhaust gases past said aftertreatment unit (40) in said fluid passage (30).

Enhanced soot oxidation on particulate filter using ceria-based catalyst and zone coating strategy

An improved SCRoF (selective catalytic reduction on filter) device for treating exhaust from an internal combustion engine. The filter has numerous entry and exit channels. Exhaust enters the entry channels and flows through side walls into the exit channels. Relative to the exhaust flow path, these side walls are coated on the downstream side with a ceria-based catalyst and on the upstream side with a Cu-zeolite catalyst. This allows the filter to optimally achieve both particulate matter oxidation and NOx reduction, respectively.
