HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE
A honeycomb structure includes honeycomb segments each having a porous partition wall defining a plurality of cells, and includes a porous bonding layer containing a crystalline anisotropic ceramic and disposed so as to bond side surfaces of the honeycomb segments to each other. A ratio of a pore volume (cc/g) of a fine pore defined as a pore in the bonding layer having a pore diameter of 10 μm or more and less than 50 μm with respect to a pore volume (cc/g) of a coarse pore defined as a pore in the bonding layer having a pore diameter of 50 μm or more and 300 μm or less is from 2.0 to 3.5, the pore volume of the fine pore is from 0.15 to 0.4 cc/g, and the pore volume of the coarse pore is from 0.05 to 0.25 cc/g.
POROUS BODY, HONEYCOMB FILTER, MICROSTRUCTURE ANALYSIS METHOD, PROGRAM FOR SAME, AND MICROSTRUCTURE ANALYZER
In a porous body, a surface layer thickness Ts takes a relatively small value satisfying P≧0.54 Ts (formula (1)), the surface layer thickness Ts being derived by a microstructure analysis using the porous-body data that is prepared through three-dimensional scanning of a region including a surface (inflow plane 61) of the porous body. Here, P denotes a porosity [%] of the porous body, and 0%<P<100% and 0 μm<Ts are assumed. The surface layer thickness Ts is derived as a distance in a thickness direction (X direction) between a surface-layer region start plane 92 in which a straight-pore opening ratio becomes 98% or less for the first time and a surface-layer region end plane 93 in which the straight-pore opening ratio becomes 1% or less for the first time.
MANUFACTURING METHOD OF PLUGGED HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE
The manufacturing method of the plugged honeycomb structure includes a honeycomb structure forming step of forming a pillar-shaped honeycomb structure, and a plugging step of forming plugging portions in end portions of the cells of the honeycomb structure formed in the honeycomb structure forming step, and in the plugging step, there is performed a press pouring operation of pressing one end face of the honeycomb structure into a plugging slurry stored in a bottomed tubular container to pour, under pressure, the plugging slurry into the cells of the honeycomb structure, and as the plugging slurry of the plugging step, there is used a slurry in which a yield point viscosity of a viscous fluidity is 600 Pa.Math.s or more, a recovery viscosity is 300 Pa.Math.s or more, and a high shearing viscosity is 200 Pa.Math.s or less.
EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION FILTER
An exhaust gas purification filter is configured to he disposed in an exhaust passage in a gasoline engine. The exhaust gas purification filter includes partition walls including a plurality of pores, a plurality of cells partitioned by the partition walls, and sealing portions alternately sealing ends of a plurality of the cells in the exhaust gas purification filter. The partition walls each have an average pore diameter of more than 16 μm and less than 21 μm, and have a ratio of an average surface opening diameter of the pores in a partition wall surface to the average pore diameter of the partition wall of 0.66 or more and 0.94 or less.

HONEYCOMB BODY HAVING LAYERED PLUGS AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
A porous ceramic honeycomb body (10) including intersecting walls that form channels (22) extending axially from a first end face to a second end face and layered plugs (62) comprised of a first layer (64) disposed on channel walls and a second layer (66) disposed inward toward an axial center of each respective channel on the first layer. The plugs seal at least one of a first portion of the channels at the first end face and a second portion of channels at the second end face of the porous ceramic honeycomb body.
After-Treatment System
An after-treatment system includes, in series along an exhaust gas flow direction through the after-treatment system: a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) delivery device, a soot-reducing device and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst.
EXHAUST PURIFICATION SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A particulate filter for trapping the particulate matter which is contained in the exhaust gas is provided inside an engine exhaust passage. Additional fuel is secondarily injected from a fuel injector in an engine expansion stroke or exhaust stroke or hydrocarbons are secondarily added from an addition valve which is provided upstream of the particulate filter in the exhaust pipe. An amount of hydrocarbons which come from the fuel injector or addition valve and then adhere in the form of a liquid to the inflow end of the particulate filter, and an amount of particulate matter which reaches the inflow end of the particulate filter are respectively estimated. A degree of clogging at the inflow end of the particulate filter is estimated based on the amount of hydrocarbons and the amount of particulate matter.
