EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION COMPRESSOR INLET THERMAL SEPARATION SYSTEM
20200191165 · 2020-06-18 ·

An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system that utilizes an insulated separation wall that separates the hot, humid EGR gas duct from the cool, dry inlet air duct in the upstream proximity of the compressor inlet of the associated turbocharger compressor. This insulated separation wall inhibits the condensation of water droplets and the formation of ice particles near the mixing point of the EGR gases and inlet air in the upstream proximity of the compressor inlet, such that the turbocharger compressor wheel, blades, and other components are not subsequently damaged by the condensed water droplets or formed ice particles. The added insulation in this cold sink area essentially thermally isolates the hot, humid EGR gas flow from the cool, dry inlet air flow until the actual mixing point of the flows.

Multi-stage electric centrifugal compressor

A multi-stage electric centrifugal compressor including an electric motor free from risk of breakdown of an operation control part due to heat generated by low-pressure stage and high-pressure stage compressors. Includes an electric motor; a pair of centrifugal compressors comprising a low-pressure stage compressor and a high-pressure stage compressor connected in series; a heat-shielding plate configured to shield heat generated by the low-pressure stage compressor; and a bending portion disposed in middle of the heat-shielding plate, and extending along a rotational shaft of the electric motor so as to surround an outer periphery of the rotational shaft. An inner surface of the bending portion faces the rotational shaft via a clearance part, and the bending portion functions as a shaft sealing portion which prevents leakage of intake air from the low-pressure stage compressor.

COMPRESSOR OVERRIDE CONTROL

An engine system incorporating an intake manifold, a compressor, and a controller. The compressor may provide air to the intake manifold and the controller may be connected to the intake manifold and the compressor. The controller may receive a control signal and control air flow from the compressor to the intake manifold based on the received control signal. The controller may control the air flow from the compressor to the intake manifold based on a first equation when a value related to the control signal is on a first side of a threshold and according to a second equation when the value is on a second side of the threshold. The controller may control the air flow between the compressor and intake manifold according to the second equation to prevent the compressor from operating at a surge condition when controlling the air flow according to the first equation.

A cogeneration system includes an intake pipe having one end which communicates with the outside air and having the other end which is connected to an engine; a mixer disposed in the intake pipe to supply gas into the intake pipe; and an intake compressor for compressing a mixed gas which is a mixture of the air and the gas, wherein the intake compressor includes: a motor disposed in the intake pipe; and a compressor impeller which is disposed in the intake pipe, and rotates by the motor to compress the mixed gas.

Supercharging system, power supply device for supercharging system, power supply control method for supercharging system, and engine system

A power supply device includes a first power supply circuit, a second power supply circuit, and a power supply-switching unit. The first power supply circuit includes a power storage device having a first capacity and supplies electricity of a first voltage to the electric motor. The second power supply circuit includes a power storage device having a second capacity smaller than the first capacity and supplies electricity of a second voltage higher than the first voltage to the electric motor. The power supply-switching unit supplies electricity from the second power supply circuit to the electric motor at the tune of starting an operation of the electric motor and thereafter supplies electricity from the first power supply circuit to the electric motor.

Anomaly determination device for evaporated fuel processing device

An anomaly determination device for an evaporated fuel processing device comprises: an evaporated fuel processing device (60) including a canister (61), a purge passage (62) and a purge valve (66); a first pressure sensor (43) and/or a second pressure sensor (45) for acquiring a purge downstream pressure, a third pressure sensor (53) for acquiring a canister internal pressure, and a PCM (70) that calculates a purge flow rate per unit time based on the purge downstream pressure and an opening degree of the purge valve (66), and calculates an integrated purge flow rate by integrating the purge flow rate, so as to perform an anomaly determination for the evaporated fuel processing device (60) based on the canister internal pressure and the integrated purge flow rate. The PCM (70) uses the canister internal pressure when the integrated purge flow rate becomes a predetermined flow rate or more.

POWERPLANT AND RELATED CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD

A hydrogen fueled powerplant including an internal combustion engine that drives a motor-generator, and has a two-stage turbocharger, for an aircraft. A control system controls the operation of the motor-generator to maintain the engine at a speed selected based on controlling the engine equivalence ratio. The control system controls an afterburner, an intercooler and an aftercooler to maximize powerplant efficiency. The afterburner also adds power to the turbochargers during high-altitude restarts. The turbochargers also include motor-generators that extract excess power from the exhaust.
