Intake and exhaust system
An intake and exhaust system includes an engine, an intake air channel, an exhaust gas channel, an EGR channel, an EGR valve, and a control device. By adjusting an opening degree of the EGR valve, the control device executes EGR control processing to control a flowrate of a recirculating exhaust gas. An isolation valve is disposed in the EGR channel closer to the exhaust gas channel than the EGR valve is. An air admittance valve is disposed in the EGR channel closer to the exhaust gas channel than the EGR valve is and closer to the intake air channel than the isolation valve is. The control device executes learning processing to learn a relationship between an actual flowrate and a reference flowrate while the isolation valve is closed and the air admittance valve is opened. The control device executes the EGR control processing based on a learning processing result.
Control device, engine, and control method of engine
Provided is a control device configured to be able to execute, in an engine which includes a DOC, a DPF, and a temperature increase unit including an exhaust throttle valve, for increasing a temperature of each of the DOC and the DPF, a forced regeneration process of removing PM deposited on the DPF by increasing the temperature of the DPF. The control device includes a flow rate estimation part configured to estimate an intake flow rate of a combustion gas sent into a cylinder of the engine. The flow rate estimation part is configured to estimate a first intake flow rate, which is the intake flow rate in the forced regeneration process, from an opening degree of the exhaust throttle valve and a first state amount which indicates an operation state of the engine including a rotation speed of the engine, based on a first relationship representing a relationship between the first intake flow rate, and the opening degree of the exhaust throttle valve and the first state amount, in the forced regeneration process.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR VALVE STICKING DETECTION, PREVENTION, OR CORRECTION
A method for cleaning an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve includes scheduling a cleaning for the EGR valve, and receiving a signal indicative of a temperature of exhaust gas produced with an internal combustion engine. The method may also include generating a command to actuate an intake throttle valve to a restrictive position to increase the temperature of the exhaust gas for cleaning the EGR valve, and generating a signal to repeatedly actuate the EGR valve.
ENGINE INTAKE AIR AND EXHAUST CONTROL SYSTEM
In one aspect, a method for controlling an internal combustion engine system including an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve and a variable-geometry turbocharger (VGT) having a compressor and a turbine includes receiving a plurality of requests for the internal combustion engine system. The method also includes predicting a plurality of expected states of the internal combustion engine system based on the plurality of requests and generating sets of candidate control points for actuating the EGR valve and the VGT based on the plurality of expected states. The method further includes selecting a set of candidate control points that avoids a surge condition of the compressor and based on the selected set of candidate control points, generating commands for actuating the EGR valve and the VGT.
Method of controlling a prime mover of a vehicle, apparatus for controlling a prime mover of a vehicle, and a vehicle comprising such an apparatus
Controlling a prime mover of a first vehicle following a first path is based, at least in part, on a likely speed behaviour of a second vehicle ahead of the first vehicle, which is estimated based on a predicted path of the second vehicle. At least one coasting profile for the first vehicle is estimated for at least part of the first path and/or the predicted path. At least one of the coasting profiles is determined that meets at least one predetermined coasting requirement. The prime mover may be controlled to place the vehicle into a coasting mode based on the determined coasting profile. Alternatively, feedback is provided to a user to put the vehicle into a coasting mode.
Method of operating an internal combustion engine
Methods and systems are provided for an engine. In one example, a method comprises stopping an engine via a soft-stop method in response to a likelihood of condensate forming being less than or equal to a threshold likelihood. The method further comprises stopping the engine via an exhaust gas evacuation method in response to the likelihood of condensate forming being greater than the threshold likelihood.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PURIFYING EXHAUST GAS IN HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE
An apparatus of purifying exhaust gas of a hybrid vehicle includes an electric supercharger disposed on an air intake line, a post-treatment unit disposed on an exhaust gas line and including an electrically-heated catalyst, an exhaust gas recirculation unit including an exhaust gas recirculation cooler disposed on a recirculation line connecting the post-treatment unit and the intake line and an exhaust gas recirculation valve disposed on the recirculation line, a three-way valve disposed at a position at which the recirculation line diverges into a front end portion and a rear end portion of the intake line, and a controller electrically connected to the three-way valve and configured for controlling the three-way valve connecting the intake line and the recirculation line at the front end portion of the electric supercharger to be selectively opened or closed.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ENGINE AIR SYSTEM CONTROL
In one aspect, a method for controlling an internal combustion engine system including an intake valve, an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, and a variable-geometry turbocharger (VGT) includes receiving sensor information including information indicative of a condition of air supplied to an internal combustion engine and a condition of exhaust exiting the internal combustion engine. The method also includes receiving a request for an internal combustion engine, projecting a future behavior of the request, and based on the request and the projected future behavior of the request, generating commands for actuating the intake valve, the EGR valve, and the VGT.
Engine system and method of controlling the engine system
In an engine system including an engine, and an exhaust gas recirculation device including a communicating pipe that communicates an exhaust pipe of the engine with an intake pipe, and a valve provided in the communicating pipe, and an electronic control unit, and its control method, the electronic control unit estimates the pressure in the intake pipe as an estimated intake pressure, and performs a jamming diagnosis to determine whether foreign matter is stuck in the valve, by comparing an intake pressure difference between a detected intake pressure and the estimated intake pressure with a threshold value, when a diagnosis condition including an opening change condition that the target opening becomes equal to or larger than a first predetermined opening and then becomes equal to or smaller than a second predetermined opening that is smaller than the first predetermined opening is satisfied.
EGR effective flow diagnosis method
An Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) effective flow diagnosis method includes: measuring an EGR gas temperature by an EGR gas temperature sensor under an EGR gas temperature rise condition of an EGR system on an intake line; determining the degree of the EGR gas temperature rise; and determining whether an EGR effective flow is excessive or insufficient according to the degree of the EGR gas temperature rise.
