Lubricant dilution detection system
Lubricant dilution detection systems and methods are disclosed. A method for detecting lubricant dilution for a lubrication system includes detecting a shutdown event of the lubrication system. The method includes measuring lubricant pressure during the shutdown event. The method further includes determining lubricant dilution based on the measured lubricant pressure during the shutdown event. In accordance with a determination that there is lubricant dilution, the method includes outputting an indication of the lubricant dilution.
Control method for SSC and ISG of vehicle and vehicle to which the control method is applied
A control method for an SSC function and an ISG function includes: determining, by a controller, whether a SSC activation condition is satisfied based on a vehicle running state information; stopping, by the controller, an engine and activating the SSC function by controlling a transmission to neutral when the SSC activation condition is satisfied; determining, by the controller, whether a first ISG operation condition including a first reference vehicle speed is satisfied based on the vehicle running state information in a state that the SSC function is activated; and deactivating, by the controller, the SSC function and activating the ISG function when it is determined that the first ISG operation condition is satisfied.
Valve timing controller
A valve timing controller includes: a driving-side rotation member rotatable around a rotation axis and rotating in synchronization with a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine; a driven-side rotation member rotatable around the rotation axis and rotating integrally with a camshaft of the engine; a phase regulating mechanism setting a relative rotation phase of the driving-side and driven-side rotation members by an electric motor; a detection unit detecting the relative rotation phase; a stop control portion displacing the relative rotation phase by controlling the electric motor to stop the engine after the relative rotation phase reaches a stop phase; and a correction control portion displacing the relative rotation phase in a direction closer to the stop phase by controlling the electric motor, when the relative rotation phase is displaced beyond a set amount from the stop phase, in a state where the engine is stopped by the stop control portion.
VEHICLE CONTROL DEVICE
A vehicle control device controls a vehicle that includes an internal combustion engine, an electric motor, and a drive wheel driven that is capable of starting the internal combustion engine by cranking of the electric motor. When the internal combustion engine is started by cranking of the electric motor, the vehicle control device is configured to: control a power running torque of the electric motor based on an intake pressure of the internal combustion engine until the internal combustion engine goes into a complete combustion state; and control a regenerative torque of the electric motor based on a fuel injection amount of the internal combustion engine until a rotation speed of the internal combustion engine converges within a predetermined range including a target rotation speed, after the internal combustion engine goes into the complete combustion state.
METHODS AND SYSTEM FOR INHIBITING AUTOMATIC ENGINE STOPPING
A method and system for operating a vehicle that includes a plurality of engine starting devices and an internal combustion engine is described. In one example, the method determines whether or not to inhibit automatic engine stopping so that a lifespan of an engine starting device may be extended. In one example, the inhibiting is based on a ratio of an actual total number of engine starts generated via the engine starting device to an actual total distance traveled by the vehicle since the engine starting device was installed.
System for variably controlling engine-on line in consideration of cooling after FATC engine is turned on
A control method capable of variably applying an existing engine-on line includes: a prediction degree calculation unit to predict a degree to which a temperature of a coolant at a current point after the engine is turned off reaches a target temperature by a request of full automatic temperature control (FATC); a factor determination unit to set reference ranges divided based on an extent that the temperature is close to the target temperature, and to determine a factor value for each reference range so that a predetermined existing engine-on line or a predetermined existing engine-off line is varied by required power; and an engine on/off line determination unit configured to determine a corrected engine-on line or a corrected engine-off line by calculating the existing engine-on line or the existing engine-off line and the factor value in the reference range in which a calculation value is positioned.
VEHICLE SAFETY DEVICE FOR ENGINE SHUT-OFF AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
A vehicle safety device for detecting vehicle tilt automatically shuts-off power to an ignition system and fuel pump and summons emergency assistance using a bistable switch circuit that toggles between a first bistable switch position in response to a reset signal and a second bistable switch position in response to an alert signal. The safety device can remain in the bistable switch positions without a power source and employ an encrypted bi-directional protocol to summon emergency assistance and generate the reset signal without vehicle operator intervention.
Method for detecting physical stoppage of an engine
Disclosed is a method for detecting physical stoppage of an internal combustion engine, including: at least four cylinders, a set of cylinder pressure sensors, configured such that, over the course of a combustion cycle of the engine, there is at least one cylinder in the compression or expansion phase whose pressure is measured by a pressure sensor of the set, the method including the following steps: measuring the pressure in a cylinder in the compression or expansion phase, calculating, from the pressure measured in the cylinder, a ratio between a pressure variation in the cylinder and the pressure in the cylinder, and detecting a physical stoppage of the engine if the measured pressure is decreasing and if the calculated ratio is constant.
Method and Device for Predicting and Avoiding Condensation of Humidity in an Intake System of an Internal Combustion Engine After Engine Switch Off
The present invention relates to a method and a control unit for avoiding condensation of humidity in an intake system of an internal combustion engine after engine switch off. Condensed liquid in the intake system of the stopped engine can lead to icing, corrosion and a hydrostatic lock at the next engine start. To prevent such an engine damage, it is necessary to determine if and in which amount condensed liquid occurs in the cooled intake system and to initiate appropriate actions to eliminate the liquid therefrom. The present invention predicts the occurrence of condensation in the intake system of the cooled engine and initiates corrective measures at engine switch off and during the cooling down period.

A micro-auxiliary power unit for supplying electric power to a vehicle includes a thermal resistant enclosure having an intake duct for receiving air, and a source of fuel. A fuel valve is fluidly coupled from the enclosure, and the fuel valve is movable between an opened position and a closed position. The micro-auxiliary power unit includes a Wankel engine to drive an output shaft and a starter-generator coupled to the output shaft to generate electric power. The micro-auxiliary power unit includes a system that has at least one sensor disposed within the enclosure that observes a condition of the enclosure and generates sensor signals, and a controller having a processor that receives the sensor signals, determines the presence of a thermal event within the enclosure and based on the determination, outputs one or more control signals to the fuel valve to move the fuel valve to the closed position.
