Method and system for controlling an engine
A system and method for operating an engine comprises an engine speed sensor generating an engine speed signal, a throttle position sensor generating a throttle position signal, a sensor module comprising at least one of a fuel pressure sensor generating a fuel pressure signal corresponding to a fuel pressure and a fuel temperature sensor generating a fuel temperature signal corresponding to a fuel temperature into the engine. A controller is coupled to the fuel injector, the engine speed sensor and the sensor module. The controller determines a pulse width duration for the fuel injector based on engine speed and throttle position, determining a pulse width correction factor as a function of at least one of the fuel temperature signal and the fuel pressure signal, determining a second pulse width duration based on the first pulse width, and operating the fuel injector with the second pulse width duration.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OPERATING A FUEL INJECTION VALVE WITH THE AID OF MACHINE LEARNING METHODS
A method for operating an injection valve by ascertaining an opening time and/or closing time of the injection valve on the basis of a sensor signal. The method includes: providing an analysis point time series by sampling a sensor signal of a sensor of the injection valve; using a nonlinear, data-based first submodel in order to obtain a first model output on the basis of the analysis point time series; using a linear, data-based second submodel in order to obtain a second model output on the basis of the analysis point time series; ascertaining the opening time and/or closing time as a function of the first and second model outputs.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR TRAINING A DATA-BASED TIME DETERMINING MODEL FOR DETERMINING AN OPENING OR CLOSING TIME OF AN INJECTION VALVE USING A MACHINE LEARNING METHOD
A computer-implemented method for training a data-based time determining model for determining an opening or closing time of an injection valve based on a sensor signal. The method includes: providing an unlabeled analysis point time series by sampling the sensor signal of a sensor of the injection valve; training the data-based time determining model to assign a time specification which represents a specific opening or closing duration to an analysis point time series, the training process being carried out using a first shifting function to time-shift the analysis point time series and a second shifting function in order to time-shift the time specification. A consistency loss function is used for the training process.
FUEL INJECTOR CONTROL STRATEGY FOR INTAKE VACUUM BASED LOW PRESSURE FUEL SYSTEM
In at least some implementations, a method of control-ling fuel injection events, includes determining at least one engine op-erating condition, determining timing of a desired pressure in an engine intake chamber or at the outlet of a fuel injector, and initiating a fuel injection event as a function of the at least one engine operating condition and the desired pressure. The fuel injection event is initiated prior to the desired pressure occurring and wherein the fuel injection event occurs for a duration such that the fuel injection event terminates after the desired pressure occurs.
Electronic control unit and fuel type analysis method
An electronic control unit for a vehicle with a combustion engine and a method of fuel analysis are provided. At least one dynamic torque sensor value from a high pressure pump of the vehicle and at least one additional sensor value including at least one pressure sensor value and/or at least one timing value are used to determine whether a combustible fuel type currently in use is known, unknown, or similar to a known fuel type. In each case, the operation of the combustion engine is optimized using specific parameter configurations for the fuel injectors of the vehicle. The specific parameter configurations are either retrieved from a database, or are generated using artificial intelligence methods.
Systems and methods for passive purging of a fuel vapor canister
Methods and systems are provided for reverse purging of a fuel vapor canister of an engine. In one example, a method may include heating a fuel vapor canister, sealing a fuel tank in order to generate a vacuum in the fuel tank, and in response to the pressure in the fuel tank reaching a target vacuum, initiating reverse purging of the fuel vapor canister.
Concentration measuring device
A concentration measuring device includes a circulation passage, an aspirator, a differential pressure sensor, and a control unit. The aspirator is disposed in a fuel tank and is connected to the circulation passage. While a gas flows from a gaseous layer within a fuel tank through the circulation passage due to a negative pressure generated in the aspirator, the differential pressure sensor measures a pressure difference of the gas within the circulation passage between an upstream side of a narrowed part, having a narrower passage area than an adjacent portion of the circulation passage, and a downstream side of the narrowed part. The control unit is configured to calculate a density of the fuel vapor from the pressure difference of the gas and to calculate a concentration of the fuel vapor from the density of the fuel vapor.
