Systems and methods for vehicle fuel tank refueling
Methods and systems are provided for vehicle fuel tanks including multiple reservoirs. In one example, a method may include opening a canister purge valve of a fuel system responsive to a fuel level of a fuel tank transitioning above a first threshold fuel level, and closing the canister purge valve after flowing a pre-determined amount of fuel to the fuel tank while the canister purge valve is open.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A FUEL SUPPLY PUMP OF A VEHICLE
The invention relates to a method for operating a fuel supply pump of a vehicle, the vehicle comprising a combustion engine system and a gearbox, the method comprising the steps of: determining one or more operational values of at least one operational parameter of the combustion engine system; determining a reduction of a fuel provision rate to the combustion engine system; determining whether a gear step change of the gearbox is at hand, on the basis of the determined one or more operational values of the at least one operational parameter; and in case a gear step change of the gearbox is at hand, controlling operation of the fuel supply pump so as to maintain fuel supply pump speed.
Method of operating an internal combustion engine
Methods and systems are provided for an engine. In one example, a method comprises stopping an engine via a soft-stop method in response to a likelihood of condensate forming being less than or equal to a threshold likelihood. The method further comprises stopping the engine via an exhaust gas evacuation method in response to the likelihood of condensate forming being greater than the threshold likelihood.
Methods and system for stopping an engine
Systems and methods for stopping an engine of a vehicle are described. In one example, the method anticipates when an engine is expected to stop and modifies engine operation so that less fuel is in the engine's intake ports when the engine is stopped so that the fuel may not escape the engine when the engine is restarted.
MIXED FUEL ENGINE
A system, method and circuit restricts the amount of a first fuel being provided to a duel-fuel engine, for example a diesel—natural gas engine; wherein a secondary circuit is provided, in parallel, to the circuit formed between the engine control unit, first fuel injector, and ground comprising a dummy load, and a normally closed switch inserted in the first fuel injection circuit; such that when the normally open switch is in a closed state the dummy load provides a resistance to the second sub-circuit, such that a total resistance in the second sub-circuit is equal to a total resistance in the first sub-circuit when the normally closed switch is in a closed state.
System and method for detecting malfunctioning turbo-diesel cylinders
According to the invention, a diagnostic system is provided for diagnosing a misfire condition is provided of individual engine cylinders in a turbocharged diesel engine having at least a first and a second cylinder associated with a common exhaust path. The system comprises a pressure sensor in an exhaust path, for measuring a pressure value; a crankshaft position sensor, for detecting a rotational crankshaft position; and a processor unit for reading the pressure sensor and the crankshaft position sensor. The processor unit is arranged for performing acts of: sampling pressure values of the pressure sensor in the common exhaust path as a function of crankshaft angle position; attributing for each cylinder fired in succession at least two sampling values (P.sub.α, P.sub.β) for at least two successive crankshaft angle positions of a pressure pulse during a cylinder firing operation; determining a boundary for a coordinate (P.sub.α, P.sub.β) formed by a tuple of sampling values (P.sub.α, P.sub.β); diagnosing a misfire condition if the coordinate formed by said tuple of sampling values is outside the boundary.
DIAGNOSIS OF THE CONDITION OF A PUMP IN AN INJECTION SYSTEM FOR DIESEL ENGINE
Disclosed is a method for controlling an engine torque for a diesel engine, characterized in that the engine torque control is implemented in an injection system. The injection system in question includes a high-pressure pump controlled by an engine control unit, the high-pressure pump supplying a fuel supply rail, the pump being dimensioned to be capable of delivering a capacity volume of compressible fuel for each combustion cycle of the diesel engine. It also includes a pressure sensor for measuring the pressure of the fuel in the fuel rail.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ENGINE AIR SYSTEM CONTROL
In one aspect, a method for controlling an internal combustion engine system including an intake valve, an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, and a variable-geometry turbocharger (VGT) includes receiving sensor information including information indicative of a condition of air supplied to an internal combustion engine and a condition of exhaust exiting the internal combustion engine. The method also includes receiving a request for an internal combustion engine, projecting a future behavior of the request, and based on the request and the projected future behavior of the request, generating commands for actuating the intake valve, the EGR valve, and the VGT.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR A VIRTUAL TURBOCHARGER SPEED SENSOR USING NEURAL NETWORKS
Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for emulating a turbocharger speed sensor of a turbocharger in an engine. A processor executing the method can receive data from a plurality of sensors in the engine, wherein the data includes: an exhaust manifold pressure of the engine; an exhaust mass flow of the engine; and an injection angle of fuel in the engine. The processor enters the data as inputs into an artificial neural network, where the artificial neural network is trained to receive the inputs and output a speed of the turbocharger of the engine, then receives an output from the artificial neural network which is the speed of the turbocharger.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MONITORING FUEL QUALITY AND SERVICE ISSUES FOR A POWER SYSTEM USED IN TRANSPORT
A method for monitoring fuel quality of a power system used in transport is provided. The method includes a controller of the power system determining that the prime mover is actively running. The method also includes the controller monitoring an output of a water-in-fuel (WIF) sensor configured to measure an amount of water accumulated in a water collection reservoir of a fuel/water separator that separates water from fuel passing there through. Also, the method includes the controller determining an amount of fuel passing through the fuel/water separator. Further, the method includes the controller calculating a fuel quality score of the fuel based on the output of the WIF sensor and the amount of fuel having passed through the fuel/water separator. The method further includes the controller triggering different alerts based on the calculated fuel quality score.
