Fuel level measurement system for a machine
A fuel level measurement system and method for liquified natural gas (LNG) powered machines is disclosed. An engine control module (ECM) receives fuel line pressure levels at a first time (e.g., a key-off event) and, again, at a second time (e.g., a key-on event). The ECM predicts an expected change in pressure from the key-off event to the key-on event based on various factors. If the change in pressure detected is greater than a threshold level different from the predicted change in pressure, the ECM determines a fill event and resets a current fuel level. The ECM tracks mass flow commands used to provide fuel to the engine to determine the consumption of fuel from the fuel tank and to determine a new current fuel level based on the amount of fuel consumed. The current fuel level is displayed on a fuel gauge.
Fuel type estimation system, data analysis apparatus, and control apparatus for fuel supply apparatus
A fuel type estimation system configured to estimate a type variable related to a type of fuel in an engine system including an engine and a fuel supply apparatus includes a storage device and an execution device. The storage device is configured to store a mapping that uses, as inputs, input variables including an engine variable related to a condition of the engine and outputs the type variable. The execution device is configured to acquire the input variables, and estimate the type variable by applying the acquired input variables to the mapping.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING ENERGY-SAVING SAILING OF SHIP
The present invention discloses a method and device for controlling energy-saving sailing of a ship. The method comprises the steps of changing the operating parameters of the ship correspondingly when the resistance of the ship changes during routine sailing, controlling the current opening degree of a throttle to increase the instantaneous oil supply amount of a main engine of the ship if the resistance of the ship becomes smaller, and controlling the current opening degree of the throttle to reduce the instantaneous oil supply amount of the main engine of the ship if the resistance of the ship becomes larger. Compared with the prior art, the method and device have the advantages that energy waste is reduced greatly and the sailing cost is reduced.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING DIFFERENTIAL DENSITY
A method for operating an engine system 200 comprising an engine 208 configured to consume a fuel, having at least a two flowmeters 214, 216, is provided. The method includes the step of operating an engine 208 disposed between a supply flowmeter 214 of the at least two flowmeters and a return flowmeter 216 of the at least two flowmeters. A first fuel density in the supply flowmeter 214 and a second fuel density in the return flowmeter 216 are measured. The fuel density measurements 317 between the supply flowmeter 214 and return flowmeter 216 are compared and a differential density measurement value, Δρ 319, based on a difference in the second fuel density and the first fuel density is determined. The Δρ 319 is compared to a range of theoretical differential fuel density values, Δρ.sub.t, and potential fuel contamination is indicated if the Δρ lies outside a range of Δρ.sub.t values by a predetermined threshold.
MACHINE SYSTEM HAVING FUEL CONSUMPTION MONITORING
A system is disclosed for use with a machine having an engine with at least one cylinder. The system may have at least one injector configured to inject fuel into the at least one cylinder, and a controller in communication with the at least one injector. The controller may be configured to determine an injection duration of the at least one injector. The controller may also be configured to calculate a fuel consumption value for the machine based on the injection duration.
Optimizing diesel, reductant, and electric energy costs
Systems and methods to reduce operating expenses of a vehicle based on control of operation of a vehicle system. The system includes a controller. The controller is structured to receive one or more parameters comprising expense data, adjust operating expenses of a vehicle system based on the one or more parameters, and generate a command structured to adjust operation of the vehicle system responsive to the adjustment of the operating expenses.
System and method for improving cylinder deactivation
Systems and methods for operating an engine with deactivating and non-deactivating valves are presented. In one example, estimates of engine fuel consumption for operating the engine with a plurality of cylinder modes or patterns while a transmission is engaged in different gears are determined and are used as a basis for deactivating engine cylinders.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ENGINE CONTROL
Methods and systems are provided for integrating a bi-fuel engine with a CVT transmission. Responsive to a driver demand, a controller may determine whether to maintain usage of a current fuel or transition to an alternate fuel based on the cost efficiency of the transition and further based on any engine limitations that may be incurred at the engine speed-load following the transition. To improve the net fuel economy benefit while addressing the engine limitation, a fuel transition may be combined with a CVT adjusted engine speed-load regime, while maintaining engine power output.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ENGINE CONTROL
Methods and systems are provided for synergizing the benefits of a multi-fuel engine in a hybrid vehicle system. During engine operation, in response to a change in driver demand, the controller may opt to switch fuels or maintain a current fuel while using stored power assist. The selection may be based on the combination of fuel and stored power offset that provides the highest engine efficiency at the lowest fuel cost.

A vehicle control device includes a storage device and a processor. The storage device is configured to store relationship prescription data that prescribe a relationship between a state of a vehicle and an action variable that is a variable related to an operation of an electronic device in the vehicle. The processor is configured to calculate a reward corresponding to the operation of the electronic device. The processor is configured to update the relationship prescription data using, as inputs to updated mapping determined in advance, the state of the vehicle that is based on a detection value that is acquired, a value of the action variable that is used to operate the electronic device, and the reward corresponding to the operation of the electronic device when a computation load on the processor is equal to or less than a predetermined load.
