INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
When a deceleration request is issued while the engine load of an internal combustion engine 10 is in a predetermined high-load region, and the vehicle is decelerated so that the engine load transitions from the high-load region to a low-load region to respond to the deceleration request, control is performed that continues a fuel supply from injectors 36 of a first cylinder #1 and a fourth cylinder #4 and cuts a fuel supply from injectors 36 of a second cylinder #2 and a third cylinder #3. Condensed water generated in an intercooler 24 is caused to flow between two guide devices 22c provided at the bottom of a convergence portion 22a of an intake manifold 22 to thereby flow into intake branch pipes 22b of the second cylinder #2 and third cylinder #3.
AIR INTAKE SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An intake manifold is provided that controls swirl on entry to a combustion chamber. Each intake manifold includes a fin or rib portion positioned to reduce or eliminate swirl induced by the configuration of the intake manifold, particularly when used in a large engine having a left bank and a right bank of combustion chambers. By controlling swirl induced by the intake manifold, swirl consistency is improved between engine cylinders and between the left bank and the right bank, improving the consistency of power output and reducing emissions, particularly particulate emissions, also called smoke.
By controlling swirl induced by the intake manifold, charge motion consistency is improved between engine cylinders and between the left bank and the right bank, thereby improving the consistency of combustion and power output, improving efficiency and reducing emissions (e.g., decreased particulate emissions (also described as smoke), hydrocarbon emissions, and NOx emissions), and further including an improved knock margin, improved fuel economy, wider rich and lean limits, etc.
INTAKE DEVICE
In an intake device for an internal combustion engine, a difference in the air-fuel ratio between the cylinders is reduced without increasing the lengths of the branch passages. An intake device (23) for an internal combustion engine (1) having at least three cylinders (3) includes: an intake chamber (30) configured to be connected with an air inlet (16); and multiple branch passages (31) connected at upstream ends (41) thereof to the intake chamber and connected at downstream ends thereof to intake ports (6) communicating with the cylinders, respectively, wherein the upstream ends of the branch passages are arranged in a direction of rotation about a predetermined center line X in a same order as an order of ignition of the cylinders.

Device for the injection of recirculated exhaust gases, distribution box and supply module comprising said device
The invention relates to a device for the injection of recirculated exhaust gases from a vehicle engine, in particular a diesel engine, the injection device comprising a plurality of injection ports (26.1, 26.2, 26.3, 26.4), provided in a portion of the material of the injection device, each injection port (26.1, 26.2, 26.3, 26.4) having a cross section and a height extending through the thickness of the material. According to the invention, the cross sections and/or the heights of at least two of the injection ports (26.1, 26.2, 26.3, 26.4) are different.
Open intake and exhaust chamber constructions for an air handling system of an opposed-piston engine
An opposed-piston engine has a cylinder block with a plurality of cylinders arranged inline, with each cylinder including an intake port longitudinally separated from an exhaust port. The engine's air handling system includes open intake and exhaust chambers in the cylinder block. The open chamber constructions eliminate the need for multi-pipe manifolds and smooth the flow of charge air.
