The engine fuel delivery system also includes a controller programmed to issue a control signal to periodically close the inlet valve to generate a setpoint fuel pressure within the pumping chamber. The controller is also programmed to adjust a control signal gain value in response to deviation in an outlet fuel pressure relative to the setpoint fuel pressure. The controller is further programmed to issue a warning message in response to the control signal gain being adjusted by more than a predetermined threshold from a calibrated gain value.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING FLOW CONTROL VALVE FOR HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP

An apparatus and a method for controlling a flow control valve for a high-pressure fuel pump include: a pressure sensor for fuel in a delivery pipe; a control unit for controlling an operation of a flow control valve by controlling a current applied to a coil; a power switching unit for supplying or blocking driving power supplied to the flow control valve based on a control signal of the control unit; and a current adjustment unit electrically connected/disconnected with the flow control valve by the power switching unit to reduce a current supplied to the flow control valve when the current adjustment unit is connected with the flow control valve. Therefore, a noise and a vibration by collision between the plunger and the core upon closing the flow control valve may be attenuated by adjusting a current amount applied to the coil.

The fuel pressurization device is configured to pressurize a fuel in accordance with opening/closing of the electromagnetic valve and discharge the fuel toward the injector. The ECU is configured: to control the opening/closing of the electromagnetic valve to adjust the fuel amount discharged toward the injector; to execute an operation sound suppression control during a low-load operation of an engine by reducing an opening/closing frequency of the electromagnetic valve and increasing the fuel amount discharged for each opening/closing of the electromagnetic valve; not to execute the operation sound suppression control when a partial lift injection is in progress; and to execute the operation sound suppression control when the partial lift injection is not in progress.

VALVE ASSEMBLY HAVING ELECTRICAL ACTUATOR WITH BALANCED STATOR

A valve assembly for a pump includes an electrical actuator having a stator and an armature. The stator includes an annular outer stator portion and an annular inner stator portion, and an annular channel formed radially between the outer stator portion and the inner stator portion. A first radial channel extending through the annular outer stator portion between an outer surface of the outer stator portion and the annular channel, and at least one second opening in the annular outer stator portion results in magnetic symmetry of the stator . Upon activating the electrical actuator, the attraction of the armature towards the stator is uniform thus displacing fluid between the stator and armature in a uniform manner and to avoid high velocity, potentially damaging fluid flow.

HIGH PRESSURE FUEL SUPPLY PUMP

A high pressure fuel supply pump includes: an electromagnetic suction valve that adjusts an amount of fuel sucked into a pressuring chamber; a discharge valve that discharges the fuel from the pressuring chamber; and a plunger that makes a reciprocating motion in the pressuring chamber. The electromagnetic suction valve includes an electromagnetic coil, a suction valve, and a movable portion that is able to close the suction valve by a magnetic force when the electromagnetic coil is energized. The movable portion includes an anchor that is driven to close the suction valve by the magnetic force and stops at a fixed member, and a rod that is driven with the anchor and is able to move even after the anchor stops. The electromagnetic suction valve includes a first and second springs that bias the suction valve in closed and open direction, respectively, and a third spring in the rod.

Valve arrangement

A valve arrangement for a high pressure pump includes a pump housing with a depression, and a valve housing configured to be inserted in the depression, and a clamping disc. The valve housing has at least one radial projection with a first axial boundary surface and a second axial boundary surface arranged opposite the first axial boundary surface, wherein the clamping disc extends radially over the radial projection of the valve housing and has a third axial boundary surface that corresponds with the second axial boundary surface of the valve housing. On the circumferential side, the clamping disc has a thread that can be screwed into a thread on the inner side of the depression to brace the valve housing onto the first boundary surface.

Injection system

An injection system for an internal combustion engine may include a high-pressure pump for delivering fuel at high pressure into a high-pressure region, wherein the high-pressure pump includes an inlet valve and an electrically switched, digitally actuated outlet valve. The outlet valve is designed as a normally-open outlet valve. In this way, it is possible to dispense with a pressure relief valve for the high-pressure region.
