Systems and methods for manufacturing stators for electric submersible pumps, where a stator core having an inner portion and an outer portion is formed. The inner portion has a plurality of teeth and outward-facing slots. Magnet wire coils are formed on the inner portion by holding the inner portion in a stationary position and using a linearly movable robotic arm to position the magnet wire in each slot while preventing the wire from sliding axially with respect to the stator and adjacent turns of the coil. After forming the magnet wire coils on the inner portion of the stator core, the outer portion of the stator core is press-fit onto the inner portion to close the slots. The magnet wire can thereby be positioned to maximize the fill factor of each slot and increase power density for a given temperature rise.

Seal assembly for a downhole device

A sealing assembly for a downhole device has first (12) and second sealing (22) components which are urged together to make up the assembly such that a first sealing surface (34) on the first component radially presses a lip member (44) on the second component to change the angle of a second sealing surface (45) in the connected assembly. The components are urged together by a driving member (60) which can have screw threads that cooperate with the first component. The lip may be annular and may be formed by an undercut or recess (42) radially inwardly or outwardly of the lip member, allowing the lip member to bend radially inwards into the recess, during insertion of the second sealing component into the first.

Balancing axial thrust in submersible well pumps

A first fluid rotor that has a first fluid intake end and a first fluid discharge end. A second fluid rotor that has a second fluid intake end and a second fluid discharge end. The second fluid rotor is rotatably coupled to the first fluid rotor to rotate in unison with the first fluid rotor along a shared rotational axis. The first fluid intake end and the second fluid intake end are facing opposite directions. A first fluid stator surrounds the first fluid rotor. The first fluid rotor and the first fluid stator form a first fluid stage. The second fluid stator is aligned along the rotational axis. The second fluid stator and the second fluid rotor form a second fluid stage. A flow crossover sub is positioned between the first fluid stage and the second fluid stage.
