Determining and utilizing a desired frequency for a mechanical shaker for a sump pump system

A sump pump system enables automatic determination and utilization of frequencies for mechanical shakers for sump pumps. These techniques may be implemented to detect a fault (e.g., a stuck impeller) with a sump pump and to identify a desirable frequency at which a mechanical shaker for the sump pump should vibrate to correct the fault.

SUBMERSIBLE PUMP DETECTION SYSTEM

The invention relates to an apparatus, system, and method for detecting a layer of contaminants, such as hydrocarbons, on the surface of accumulated water within a confined area that is periodically evacuated by a pump. The detection of contaminant layers may be accomplished through the use of an optical detection system comprising a light source, a plate having conductive, capacitive, positional and/or reflective properties, and a capacitive, pressure, optical, or ultrasonic sensor capable of distinguishing between oil and water, with the plate positioned at a distance equal to the desired minimum detectable hydrocarbon layer thickness. Dissipation of turbulence and agitation of the accumulated water may be achieved with a stilling tube. Additional sensors may detect high, intermediate, and low levels, as well as trigger optical sensor measurement. An integrated controller may determine the state of media within the confined area.

A flow delivery system to deliver and monitor a liquid flow, using a pump, and a monitoring device (e.g. a flow meter) are described. A controller determines if the flow is a liquid flow or a gas flow by reducing a drive signal for the pump from a first drive signal to a second drive signal. This changes the characteristics of both the pump drive signal and the characteristics of the resulting flow. Based on the change in the characteristics, the flow is determined to be a liquid flow or a gas flow.

SUBMERSIBLE MOTOR AND METHOD FOR MITIGATING WATER INVASION TO A SUBMERSIBLE MOTOR

A method for mitigating water invasion to a submersible motor includes: forming an accumulation zone within an inner space of the submersible motor, wherein the accumulation zone is disposed at a bottom of the inner space below a motor shaft; measuring a conductivity of a fluid inside the accumulation zone using a sensor, wherein the fluid comprises water and dielectric oil; comparing the conductivity of the fluid with a threshold value; upon detecting that the conductivity of the fluid is greater than the threshold value, activating a solenoid pump to discharge the fluid from the accumulation zone to an outside of the submersible motor.

Monitoring system for pump with mechanical seal lubrication arrangement

Systems and methods are provided for remotely monitoring liquid lubricant levels for pump equipment. A system includes a reservoir to store lubricant and a lubrication gland to expose a shaft seal of the pump equipment to the lubricant. A feed line and a return line circulate the lubricant between the reservoir and the lubrication gland. A level sensor is configured to measure a fluid level in the reservoir. The level sensor uses a communication interface to transmit fluid level data a monitoring device mounted to the pump equipment. The monitoring device is configured to compare the fluid level data against stored alert thresholds and send, to a provider network, an alert signal when the fluid level data is below an alert threshold. If the fluid level data is not below an alert threshold, the monitoring device stores the fluid level data for periodic reporting.

Submersible pump with barrier fluid isolation of motor lubricating liquid from pumped product

An electrical submersible pump (ESP) isolates its motor lubricant from pumped product without requiring a bellows, diaphragm, bladder, or external lubricant pressurizing system. A pair of nested isolation chambers below the motor housing are filled with a barrier fluid that is non-reactive, non-miscible, and higher in density than the pumped product and the motor lubricant. As the motor lubricant expands and contracts after pump start-up and shut-down, motor lubricant and barrier fluid are exchanged between the motor housing and the isolation chambers via three interconnections, while pumped product is exchanged with the inner barrier chamber, while being isolated from the motor housing. The interconnections extend between the bottom of the motor housing and the bottom of the outer barrier chamber, between the top of the outer barrier chamber and the bottom of the inner barrier chamber, and between the top of the inner barrier chamber and the pumped product.

Downhole water removal tool

In some implementations, a method involves determining a level of accumulation of a hydrocarbon-water emulsion in an annulus of a wellbore. The method further involves based on the level of accumulation, determining an operating setting of a hydrocarbon-water separator and operating the hydrocarbon-water separator at the operating setting, where the hydrocarbon-water separator separates the hydrocarbon-water emulsion into water and a hydrocarbon fluid. Further, the method involves activating, in response to a first sensor detecting a first water level in the annulus, a pump that pumps the water from the annulus into a water zone below the wellbore. Yet further, the method involves deactivating the pump in response to a second sensor detecting a second water level in the annulus, where the second sensor is located below the first sensor.
