Centrifugal compressor with recirculation passage
An example centrifugal compressor includes a housing that defines an inlet chamber and includes first and second openings that define a recirculation passage in fluid communication with the inlet chamber. An impeller is disposed within the housing and is rotatable about a longitudinal axis to draw fluid into the inlet chamber. The first and second openings are at different axial locations along the longitudinal axis. A plurality of inlet guide vanes are rotatable and situated in the inlet chamber. The centrifugal compressor includes a ring and a controller for moving the ring along the longitudinal axis between a first position and a second position when rotating the inlet guide vanes. The ring obstructs at least one of the first and second openings more in the second position than in the first position.
Turbocharger
A turbocharger is provided and includes a compressor housing and a recirculation slit and a recirculation passage provided at an inlet of the compressor housing to enable air flowing into the compressor to be recirculated. A gas supply part supplies blow-by gas towards the inlet of the compressor housing to allow blow-by gas to be joined with air recirculated through the recirculation slit and the recirculation passage and to guide recirculating air towards a compressor wheel.
CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR WITH RECIRCULATION STRUCTURE
A centrifugal compressor for a chiller system includes a casing having an inlet portion and an outlet portion, a recirculation structure including a recirculation path and a recirculation discharge cavity, an impeller disposed downstream of the recirculation discharge cavity, a plurality of recirculation discharge guide vanes disposed to surround the recirculation discharge cavity, and a diffuser disposed in the outlet portion downstream of the impeller. The recirculation structure is configured to impart a swirl to a flow of refrigerant into the inlet portion. The recirculation path supplies the refrigerant from the diffuser to the recirculation discharge cavity. The recirculation path includes a recirculation pipe that introduces the refrigerant toward the plurality of recirculation discharge guide vanes. An annular groove is disposed between the recirculation pipe and the plurality of recirculation discharge guide vanes. An annular plate is disposed between the annular groove and the recirculation discharge cavity.
Diffuser for a radial compressor
The invention relates to a diffuser for a radial compressor, comprising a flow channel defined by a first side wall and a second side wall, a diffuser vane ring with a plurality of diffuser vanes that are at least partially arranged in the flow channel, each of the diffuser vanes having a pressure side and a suction side, a plurality of diffuser passages, said diffuser passages being formed between every two adjacent diffuser vanes of the plurality of diffuser vanes, and circulation openings, each circulation opening connecting the flow channel to a diffuser cavity, at least two circulation openings being associated with one diffuser passage, and a circulation opening associated with a diffuser passage being fluidically connected to another circulation opening associated with the same diffuser passage or to a circulation opening associated with another diffuser passage, via the diffuser cavity.
CHILLER SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATING CHILLER SYSTEM
A chiller system may include a compressor configured to compress a refrigerant by rotation; a condenser configured to condense the refrigerant compressed by the compressor; an expander configured to expand the condensed refrigerant; an evaporator configured to evaporate the expanded refrigerant; a sensor unit including a plurality of temperature sensors, a speed sensor that senses a rotational speed of the compressor, and a current sensor that senses a current of the compressor; and a controller configured to determine whether to enter into a surge detection logic based on a volatility of data sensed by the sensor unit, and configured to perform surge detection.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR GUIDING BLEED AIR IN A TURBOFAN ENGINE
Device and methods for guiding bleed air in a turbofan gas turbine engine are disclosed. The devices provided include louvers and baffles that guide bleed air toward a bypass duct of the turbofan engine. The louvers and baffles have a geometric configuration that promotes desirable flow conditions and reduced energy loss.

Turbocharger compressor bypass coaxial re-introduction system to optimize transient load response
A compressor bypass reintroduction system includes a compressor intake manifold and a bypass conduit. The compressor intake manifold defines a fluid plenum. The compressor intake manifold is engageable with a compressor. The bypass conduit extends into the fluid plenum and includes an ejector line. The ejector line is configured to be substantially collinear with the compressor and to discharge flow toward the compressor. In some embodiments, an outlet of the ejector is disposed proximate to an outlet of the fluid plenum that discharges flow into the compressor.
Multistage centrifugal pump
A multistage centrifugal pump for conveying a fluid includes a pump housing with an inlet to receive the fluid and an outlet to discharge the fluid, a first stage impeller and a last stage impeller to convey the fluid from the inlet to the outlet, a shaft to rotate the first stage impeller and the last stage impeller about an axial direction, a suction chamber arranged upstream of the first stage impeller and in fluid communication with the inlet, a recirculation path for the fluid including a return opening and extending from the return opening to the suction chamber, the return opening located at or in the flow path downstream of the first stage impeller and upstream of the last stage impeller, and a flow control rod disposed in the recirculation path, the flow control rod to adjust a recirculation flow through the recirculation path into the suction chamber.
INTERSTAGE CAPACITY CONTROL VALVE WITH SIDE STREAM FLOW DISTRIBUTION AND FLOW REGULATION FOR MULTI-STAGE CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSORS
Centrifugal compressors can incorporate a side stream flow of intermediate pressure vapor between stages of that compressor. The side stream flow can be controlled by a side stream injection port controlled by a capacity control valve that has a curved surface facing a flow of refrigerant from the first stage to the second stage. The capacity control valve can allow or obstruct flow through the side stream injection port. The capacity control valve can extend and retract in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of flow from the first stage impeller to the second stage impeller. The side stream injection port and the capacity control valve can be ring-shaped. The side stream injection port and the capacity control valve can allow at least some of the side stream to be introduced on a side of the capacity control valve opposite the curved surface.
