PRESSURE SEAL ASSEMBLY

A gas turbine engine having a bearing housing with a housing cavity and a shaft rotating about a rotation axis. One or more bearings support the shaft. A housing supporting the bearing and defining a chamber axially adjacent to the bearing. A seal assembly is in the housing between the chamber and an exterior of the chamber. The seal assembly includes a seal supported by the housing and surrounding the shaft so as to define an annular gap between an inner surface of the seal and an outer surface associated to the shaft, the gap defining a part of a sealing path of the seal assembly for air to flow from said exterior into the chamber. An impeller rotates with the shaft and located radially inward of the gap relative to the rotation axis, the impeller oriented to drive oil toward the bearing.

High Speed Centrifugal Pump Lined Seal Housing

A centrifugal pump, and components thereof, operable at high speeds, is described under the present disclosure. A hard polymer sleeve can be applied to certain surfaces of a seal casing within the pump. If the sleeve is applied along surfaces near the center shaft, then the hard polymer will withstand the forces and pressures of the system. The hard polymer might not be used along the outer diameter, farther from the shaft, because velocities are higher the further out one goes. The current disclosure allows for the use of fluoropolymer in the lining sleeve. The benefits of fluoropolymer have been unavailable in high speed centrifugal pumps because the forces are too great on the periphery of the seal casing. However, the lower speeds along the interior, near the shaft, allow fluoropolymer to be used.

Water pump

A water pump includes a mechanical seal provided between a housing and a rotary shaft for preventing cooling water from leaking from a whirl chamber. The housing forms a space into which cooling water leaked from between the mechanical seal and the rotary shaft is flown and a water vent for discharging cooling water flown into the space. The housing is joined with a thermostat cover to form a reservoir communicating with the water vent. The reservoir has a drain for releasing evaporated cooling water to the air and a control wall for preventing cooling water remaining as liquid from flowing out through the drain.

System and method for seal flush

Techniques are provided for seal flush systems. A system may include a reactor circulation pump configured to circulate a slurry through a polymerization reactor. The slurry may include an olefin monomer, a catalyst, and a diluent. The system may also include a catalyst-inhibiting additive system configured to supply a catalyst-inhibiting additive to a seal of the reactor circulation pump and a seal flush system configured to generate a seal flush mixture and supply the seal flush mixture to the seal of the reactor circulation pump.

One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for a dual tandem seal configuration that can provide a seal around a drive shaft in a pumping apparatus. The pumping apparatus can include an outboard seal radially surrounding an adapter shaft. The outboard seal can be retained in place by a front bracket at a front end of the outboard seal and a retention lip of the adapter shaft at a rear end of the outboard seal. The pumping apparatus can further include an inboard seal radially surrounding the adapter shaft and located between the outboard seal and the pump. The inboard seal can be retained in place by a rear bracket at a front end of the inboard seal.

Sealing device for an immersible pump

Disclosed herein is an apparatus for an immersible pump. The apparatus can include a shaft for communicating with a motor. The shaft includes a first region having a first diameter, a second region having a second diameter that is less than the first diameter, and a tapering region between the two regions. A sleeve can be provided to receive the shaft. A sealing device includes a receiving area in which the tapering region is at least partially positionable to form a seal, and an abutment that is configured to form a seal with the sleeve and that is responsive to a force directed from the sleeve to enhance the seal with the tapering region. In some embodiments, the sealing device is provided with a circumferential outer wall for centering the sleeve about the shaft and/or for aligning the force with the abutment.

SEAL ASSEMBLY FOR ABRASION RESISTANT BEARING OF CENTRIFUGAL PUMP

A submersible well pump assembly has a motor that rotates a drive shaft within the pump. The pump has a number of pump stages, each stage having a diffuser and an impeller. A bushing is fixed for non-rotation within the diffuser. A thrust runner sleeve mounted to the drive shaft has an outer diameter surface in sliding rotating engagement with an inner diameter surface of the bushing. At least one seal ring is mounted to the sleeve in sealing engagement with the drive shaft to block the entry of well fluid particulates between the sleeve and the drive shaft.

COMPACT SEAL PACKING TO ENSURE SEALING BETWEEN A ROTARY SHAFT AND A STATIONARY BODY OF A MACHINE

The invention relates to a compact seal packing (10), ensuring dynamic sealing between a rotary shaft and a stationary body, in particular a stationary enclosure. In particular, the seal packing (10) comprises a compression spring (16) bearing against a transmission element (18) to transmit the forces of the spring to a friction ring (12) and press it against a counter-ring (14). The compression spring (16) is bearing against a first radial flange (181) of the transmission element (18), a second flange (182) of the transmission element (18) being located partially facing a radial surface (122) of the friction ring distant from the counter-ring (14) and a cylindrical wall (180) of the transmission element (18) being located partially facing the cylindrical outer surface (124) of the friction ring (12).

Load Sharing Spring for Tandem Thrust Bearings of Submersible Pump Assembly

A submersible well pump assembly has upper and lower seal sections connected between the pump and a motor. The seal sections have drive shafts with thrust runners that engage thrust bearing bases. The upper drive shaft will undergo a limited amount of downward movement toward the lower drive shaft in response to wear of the upper thrust bearing base. A spring between ends of the drive shafts transfers a portion of the down thrust on the upper drive shaft to the lower drive shaft prior to the limited amount of downward movement of the upper drive shaft toward the lower drive shaft being reached. A rigid stop member in the coupling transfers down thrust directly from the upper drive shaft to the lower drive shaft, bypassing the spring, only after the limited amount of downward movement of the upper drive shaft toward the lower drive shaft has been reached.
