SEAL ASSEMBLIES FOR TURBINE ENGINES AND RELATED METHODS

A seal assembly for a rotary machine, such as a turbine engine, may include a seal rotor comprising a rotor face, a seal slider comprising a slider face, a seal stator, wherein the seal slider is slidably coupled to the seal stator, and wherein the slider face and the rotor face define a primary seal. The seal slider may be configured to slidably engage and retract the slider face with respect to the rotor face. The seal assembly may further include a secondary seal disposed between the seal slider and the seal stator. The secondary seal may be configured to compress and rebound and/or to expand and rebound, over at least a portion of a range of motion of the seal slider.

An example variable bleed valve apparatus comprises a variable bleed valve door to actuate the variable bleed valve apparatus, and a variable bleed valve port including an upstream edge and a downstream edge, the VBV port to define a secondary flowpath, the VBV door to cover the VBV port in a closed position, and a vortex device at the upstream edge of the variable bleed valve port, the vortex device including a vorticity generating feature along the upstream edge of the variable bleed valve port.

A pneumatic device includes an outer ring (1) and a core body (3), at least one stage of secondary stroke flow channel (300) being provided between a nozzle (301) and an exhaust port (302) which are located at an outer ring surface of the core body (3); gas enters from an intake passage (31), is ejected in stages through the nozzle (301) and the secondary stroke flow channel (300) of the core body (3), acts on at least two driving recesses (11) in a circumferential direction of the outer ring (1), and generates a pushing force for the driving recesses (11) to push the outer ring (1) to rotate and do work, so as to achieve a power output, and finally, the gas is discharged from an exhaust passage (310) through the exhaust port (302) of the core body (3).

COMPONENT FOR A TURBOMACHINE CENTRIFUGAL DEGASSER WITH ADAPTED LONGITUDINAL WALLS

A component for a centrifugal degasser for an air/oil mixture of a turbomachine is disclosed. The degasser rotates about an axis of symmetry, forming an annular chamber for centrifugal separation of the mixture. The chamber forms a fluid passage duct, one inlet of which is oriented axially for supplying the chamber with the mixture, and a first outlet of which is oriented radially inwards for discharging the deoiled air separated from the mixture. The chamber also includes at least one second oil outlet oriented radially outwards and intended to discharge the oil separated from the mixture to the outside of the degasser. The chamber has longitudinal walls passing radially therethrough, at least one of the surfaces of the longitudinal walls having surface structures and/or corrugations arranged to form obstacles to a flow of the mixture along the surface of the longitudinal walls.

The trailing edge has an indentation indenting toward the leading edge. The indentation narrows from the trailing edge to the leading edge, and has an apex being a point closest to the leading edge from among the points constituting the indentation. The blade has, at the indentation, a maximum thickness portion at which a thickness of the blade is maximum, and which is positioned radially inside of the apex.

A rotor assembly is provided for a gas turbine engine. This rotor assembly includes a first rotor disk, a second rotor disk, a plurality of rotor blades and a plurality of vanes. The first rotor disk is configured to rotate about a rotational axis. The second rotor disk is configured to rotate about the rotational axis. The rotor blades are arranged circumferentially around the rotational axis. Each of the rotor blades is axially between and mounted to the first rotor disk and the second rotor disk. The vanes are arranged circumferentially around the rotational axis. The vanes include a first vane that is integral with the first rotor disk and projects axially to the second rotor disk.

Erosion mitigating labyrinth seal mating ring

A compressor assembly includes an impeller rotatable about a central axis and a seal assembly. The seal assembly includes a labyrinth seal defining a seal interface with a sealing element of the impeller and a seal support ring into which the labyrinth seal is installed. The seal support includes a deflector ramp fluidly downstream of the seal interface. The deflector ramp is configured to turn an airflow leaking through the seal interface radially inwardly toward the central axis. A plurality of tortuous pathways are formed in a downstream surface of the seal support ring and are configured to diffuse a tangential component of the airflow.

A compressor assembly includes an impeller rotatable about a central axis and a seal assembly. The seal assembly includes a labyrinth seal defining a seal interface with a sealing element of the impeller and a seal support ring into which the labyrinth seal is installed. The seal support includes a deflector ramp fluidly downstream of the seal interface. The deflector ramp is configured to turn an airflow leaking through the seal interface radially inwardly toward the central axis. A plurality of tortuous pathways are formed in a downstream surface of the seal support ring and are configured to diffuse a tangential component of the airflow.
