Methods and apparatus for passive thrust vectoring and plume deflection
A flow vectoring turbofan engine employs a fixed geometry fan sleeve and core cowl forming a nozzle incorporating an asymmetric convergent/divergent (con-di) and/or curvature section which varies angularly from a midplane for reduced pressure in a first operating condition to induce flow turning and axially symmetric equal pressure in a second operating condition for substantially axial flow.
TURBINE BLADE
A turbine blade for a turbomachine having a turbine blade wall and a fluid channel having inlet channel section on the end region leading to the cold side, outlet channel section on the end region leading to the hot side, and central channel section therebetween having a circular cross-section constant along the length. The turbine blade forms an acute angle with the surface of the turbine blade wall over which hot gas flows, and has an intermediate channel section between the inlet and central channel sections, the intermediate channel section having a larger cross-sectional area than the central channel section. The central channel section connects to the intermediate channel section forming a shoulder surface formed on a wall region of the fluid channel and, on the opposing wall region, the intermediate and central channel sections merge with one another in a linear manner with a reduced shoulder height.
Casing cooling duct
A turbine includes an inner casing to which at least a stator vane of a turbine section is mountable, and an outer casing arranged around the inner casing in such a way that an outer cooling channel is formed between the inner casing and the outer casing. The outer cooling channel includes a fluid inlet through which a cooling fluid is injectable from an outer volume of the turbine into the outer cooling channel. The cooling channel includes a fluid outlet such that the cooling fluid is exhausted into an inner volume of the turbine. The fluid inlet is located with respect to the fluid outlet such that the cooling fluid inside the outer cooling channel includes a flow direction which has a component that is orientated in opposite direction with respect to a main flow direction of a working fluid of the turbine.
BUFFER FLUID DELIVERY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR A SHAFT SEAL OF A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
Systems and methods for delivering a buffer fluid to a shaft seal of a gas turbine engine are provided. An exemplary system includes, a buffer fluid source, one or more first conduits providing fluid communication between the buffer fluid source and the shaft seal along a first route, and one or more second conduits providing fluid communication between the buffer fluid source and the shaft seal along a second route different from the first route. A heat exchanger is also disposed along the first route to facilitate heat transfer between buffer fluid in the one or more first conduits and a cooling fluid.
Gas turbine component with cooling aperture having shaped inlet and method of forming the same
A method of manufacturing a cooled gas turbine component includes forming a core with an outer surface. The outer surface includes a core feature. The method also includes casting an outer wall of an airfoil about the core. The outer wall has an exterior surface and an interior surface. The interior surface includes a shaped inlet portion that corresponds to the core feature. Moreover, the method includes forming an outlet portion through the outer wall to fluidly connect the outlet portion to the shaped inlet portion. The shaped inlet portion and the outlet portion cooperatively define a cooling aperture through the outer wall.

An assembly adapted for use in a gas turbine engine includes a carrier and a blade track segment. The carrier extends at least partway about an axis. The blade track segment is supported by the carrier radially relative to the axis to define a portion of a gas path of the assembly.
Turbocharger
The invention relates to an exhaust-gas-driven turbocharger having a hydrodynamic plain bearing having a rotor and a stator, the rotor being rotatable with respect to the stator, the rotor bearing surface being located opposite a counter-surface of the stator in order to generate hydrodynamic pressure in the region of a converging gap. In such a hydrodynamic plain bearing, the application properties can be improved by the fact that the rotor bearing surface and/or the counter-surface constitutes in a section view, in the context of a section along and through the rotation axis, a continuous bearing contour that is constituted from convex or concave curvatures and/or from at least two contour segments that are embodied as straight lines and/or curvatures. The invention also relates to a hydrodynamic plain bearing or bearing arrangement having such a plain bearing.

An apparatus and method for an engine component for a turbine engine comprising an outer wall having an outer surface and bounding an interior, the outer wall defining a pressure side and a suction side, extending axially between a leading edge and a trailing edge to define a chord-wise direction, and extending radially between a root and a tip to define a span-wise direction, at least one cooling supply conduit provided in the interior, and at least one cooling passage fluidly coupling the at least one cooling supply conduit to the outer surface of the outer wall, the at least one cooling passage comprising an outlet opening onto the outer surface along the leading edge, an inlet fluidly coupled to the at least one cooling supply conduit, and a curved passage defining a curvilinear centerline.
Journal and thrust gas bearing
A bearing includes a thrust gas bearing attached to a journal bearing and two or more converging-diverging orifices defined in a surface of at least one of the thrust gas bearing and the journal bearing. The converging-diverging orifices supply at least one pressurized gas to an interior of the bearing. Hydrodynamic lifting grooves are provided on the faces of the thrust gas bearing and the journal bearing and provide improved load capacity and sealing capabilities. Control over the ratios of the pressurized gases provides for additional sealing capabilities and reduced leakage. A metal mesh damper provides increased damping of the gas bearing.

The invention relates to a de-icing device for an air intake of an aircraft turbojet engine nacelle extending along an X-axis in which an air stream flows from upstream to downstream, the air intake having an inner cavity, extending annularly about the X-axis, which comprises an inner wall facing the X-axis and an outer wall which is opposite the inner wall, the walls being connected by a leading edge, the de-icing device comprising at least one injector for injecting a stream of hot air into the inner cavity, the injector comprising a nozzle extending along a nozzle axis, the nozzle being configured to inject a stream of hot air having a dissymmetry along the nozzle axis.
