Gas turbine engine having section with thermally isolated area

A gas turbine engine according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a first compressor having a first overall pressure ratio, and a second compressor having a second overall pressure ratio. A ratio of the first overall pressure ratio to the second overall pressure ratio is greater than or equal to about 2.0. Further, a section of the gas turbine engine includes a thermally isolated area.

Oil tank mount arrangement on a geared turbofan engine

An oil tank mounting system for use on a structure of a turbine engine, includes three mounts with each mount configured to constrain the oil tank with a different number of degrees of freedom of movement. A first mount may have fix the oil tank in one degree of freedom, a second mount may fix the oil tank in two degrees of freedom, and a third mount may fix the oil tank in three degrees of freedom. This allows limited rotational and expansion movement while coupling the oil tank to the engine. The mount attachments may be embodied in rubber, with pins, or with spherical joints in a variety of configurations. Frangible pins may be used to absorb energy but still retain the oil tank in the event of a high energy event.

Moveable exhaust plug liner

An exhaust section of a gas turbine engine includes an exhaust plug defining a plurality of exhaust plug apertures circumferentially spaced from each other. Also included is an exhaust nozzle radially offset from the exhaust plug defining an exhaust pathway between the exhaust plug and the exhaust nozzle. Further included is an exhaust plug liner having a non-uniform outer surface axially aligned with the exhaust plug apertures. The exhaust plug liner is rotatable relative to the exhaust plug between a first position and a second position to selectively change a cross-sectional area of the exhaust pathway during thrust reversal operation to reduce an amount of reverse thrust necessary.

An assembly is provided for an aircraft propulsion system. This assembly includes a target-type thrust reverser and a tubular trailing edge body. The target-type thrust reverser includes a plurality of thrust reverser doors. Each of the thrust reverser doors is configured to pivot between a stowed position to a deployed position. The tubular trailing edge body is configured to at least partially form a gas path nozzle for the aircraft propulsion system. The tubular trailing edge body is configured to be displaced when the thrust reverser doors pivot from the stowed position to the deployed position.

A fan drive gear system for a turbofan engine includes a geared architecture and a gear controller supporting the geared architecture and controlling rotation of the geared architecture relative a static structure.

GAS TURBINE WITH ROTATING DUCT
20190368421 · 2019-12-05 ·

A gas turbine has a shaft arranged for driving a compressor and being rotatable with respect to another component, wherein a stream of bleed air from the compressor can flow between the shaft and the other component, wherein a duct is fixed with respect to the shaft such that the stream of bleed air can flow though the duct, wherein the duct surrounds the shaft. A heat exchanger may be arranged in the duct such that the bleed air is cooled by air within the shaft.

VARIABLE DIFFUSER HAVING A RESPECTIVE PENNY FOR EACH VANE

A variable diffuser comprises a passage, at least two vanes disposed within the passage, and at least two pennies. The passage is defined between opposing disk faces of a hub and a tip. Each of the vanes comprises a body having a leading edge and a trailing edge. The body extends between the hub face and the disk face. Each of the pennies is coupled to a respective vane body near an edge of the penny and an actuator. Rotation of at least one penny changes the orientation of the respective vane relative to the hub face.

Engine with rotating detonation combustion system

A Brayton cycle engine including a longitudinal wall extended along a lengthwise direction. The longitudinal wall defines a gas flowpath of the engine. An inner wall assembly is extended from the longitudinal wall into the gas flowpath. The inner wall assembly defines a detonation combustion region in the gas flowpath upstream of the inner wall assembly.
