VANE MADE OF COMPOSITE MATERIAL FOR A TURBINE ENGINE STATOR INCLUDING A HOLLOW CORE MADE OF NON-POROUS PLASTIC
A vane for a turbine engine includes a body in the form of an aerodynamic profile formed by a shell produced from a composite material formed from a three-dimensional textile of reinforcement fibres consolidated by a hardened resin. The shell forms a pressure surface and a suction surface of the vane connected to each other while forming on one side a leading edge and on the opposite side a trailing edge of the vane, and a core including a core body surrounded by the shell. The core is produced from non-porous plastics material, and the core body is in the form of an aerodynamic profile and delimits at least one closed cavity of the core.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR A TURBO SHIELD
A turbo shield with a slit, wherein the slit is configured to allow an inner diameter across the turbo shield to increase and decrease without altering the properties of fibers associated with the turbo shield.
PREFORM FOR A COMPOSITE BLADE
Fibrous preform for a composite blade and also a composite blade formed by means of such a preform, a rotor and a rotating machine comprising such a blade, the preform comprising a first longitudinal section, configured to form a blade root, and a second longitudinal section, extending from the first longitudinal section, configured to form a portion of an airfoil, wherein the first longitudinal section has a first thickness at its upper end and wherein the second longitudinal section comprises at least one set-back zone having a thickness at least three times less than the first thickness, said set-back zone occupying at least 50% of the second longitudinal section.
Removal of contaminants from air for use in aircraft engines
A secondary air system for an aircraft engine comprises an air flow path communicating between a source of pressurized cooling air and an air consuming component. A filter is disposed in the air flow path upstream from the air consuming component. The filter has at least one of: openings of a size selected for capturing suspended particles; and a filter surface material for binding with chemical contaminants.
FIBROUS TEXTURE FOR TURBINE ENGINE BLADE MADE OF COMPOSITE MATERIAL
The invention relates to a fibrous texture intended to form the fibrous reinforcement of a turbine engine blade made of composite material, the texture being in a single piece and having a three-dimensional weave between a plurality of first fiber warp yarns or strands extending in a radial direction and a plurality of first fiber weft yarns or strands extending in a chord direction, the texture comprising a blade root portion and a blade airfoil portion extending between the blade root portion and a free end of the fibrous texture. The blade airfoil portion has a reinforced area in the vicinity of the free end of the texture comprising weft yarns or strands made of second fibers different from the first fibers.
FIBROUS TEXTURE FOR MANUFACTURING A FAN BLADE MADE OF COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A fibrous texture intended to form the fibrous reinforcement of a turbomachine blade made of composite material including a fibrous reinforcement densified by a matrix, wherein the fibrous texture includes an area of reduced stiffness including warp yarns or strands made of second fibers having a second elongation at break greater than the first elongation at break, the area of reduced stiffness extending in the longitudinal direction from the stilt area and up to a height less than or equal to 30% of the height of the blade, extending in the transverse direction between a first area and a second area, the first area extending over a first length from a first edge of the texture intended to form a leading edge, and the second area extending over a second length from a second edge of the texture intended to form a trailing edge.
Thermal Blanket System and Method
Thermal insulation blankets and methods of using the same to repair articles, such as components of turbine engines are disclosed. The thermal insulation blankets are a multilayer composite material that includes: a first flexible fiberglass fabric layer having two sides that are coated with a coating that covers the fiberglass fibers; an intermediate second fiberglass insulation blanket layer made of continuous glass fibers; and a third layer of flexible heat reflective material. The method involves wrapping a component, such as a component of a turbine engine, with one or more thermal insulation blankets in order to retain heat within the confines of a prescribed area for installing or removing parts with a precision fitment. The blankets allow enough heat to induce even thermal expansion of the components.
System for an improved stator assembly
An improved stator assembly for use in a gas-turbine engine is disclosed. The stator assembly may comprise a vane, an inner diameter (ID) ring, an outer diameter (OD) ring, a vane disposed between the ID ring and the OD ring, a potting component coupling the vane to at least one of the OD ring or the ID ring, and a potting embedded component disposed within the potting component. The potting embedded component may prevent disbond of the potting component during operation of the gas-turbine engine.
Internal cooling circuits for CMC and method of manufacture
A method for forming a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) component with an internal cooling channel includes partially densifying a first fiber preform to form a portion of a final ceramic matrix volume, machining a first channel into a surface of the partially densified first fiber preform, covering the first channel with a fibrous member to form a near net shape fiber preform with an internal passage formed by the first channel and the fibrous member, and densifying the near net shape fiber preform.
Methods and systems for a turbo shield
A turbo shield with a slit, wherein the slit is configured to allow an inner diameter across the turbo shield to increase and decrease without altering the properties of fibers associated with the turbo shield.
