Reverse Pulley Attachment for Rubber Cushioned Rear Wheels of Motorcycles
20170030437 · 2017-02-02 ·

A motorcycle wheel attachment or replacement of the existing drive pulley used on the rear rubber cushioned wheel of motorcycles and trikes. The attachment or replacement contains an apparatus that allows the operator of the motorcycle or trike to ride the motorcycle or trike in forward or reverse drive using a control linkage or electrical switch.

Dynamically pivotable friction drive

A friction drive transmission includes a drive pulley having an engaging face, a tip plate that supports the drive pulley and is configured to pivot about a pivot axis that is parallel to an axis of rotation of the engaging face of the drive pulley, and a friction ring that drives an axle. The friction ring may contact the engaging face of the drive pulley and may be moveable relative to the engaging face of the drive pulley to transition between forward rotation and reverse rotation. When the friction ring moves into a reverse rotation position for reverse rotation of the axle, the tip plate may pivot, with the drive pulley, about the pivot axis from a first position into a second position. The first position may be different from the second position.

Reverse drive system for a motorized vehicle

A motorized vehicle includes a multi-speed transmission having a plurality of forward gears configured to be selectively engaged to drive the motorized vehicle, an internal combustion engine selectively coupled to the transmission, and a reverse drive system selectively coupled to the transmission to provide torque to drive the motorized vehicle in a reverse direction. The reverse drive system includes an electric motor and a reverse drive gear train configured to be selectively coupled to the transmission. The transmission includes a neutral position in which the internal combustion engine is decoupled from the transmission and freely rotatable relative to the transmission. The reverse drive gear train is configured to be operably coupled to the transmission when the transmission is in the neutral position, such that the reverse drive system is operable to drive the motorized vehicle in the reverse direction without interference from the internal combustion engine.

SNOWMOBILE TRANSMISSION

Snowmobile transmission, including a housing with a cover, an input shaft and an output shaft arranged inside the housing, and a chain transmission drive including a chain connecting a drive sprocket arranged on the input shaft to a driven sprocket arranged on the output shaft, a reverse gear axle about which a reverse gear sprocket freely rotates also arranged inside the housing, the reverse gear sprocket engaging with the chain, and a reverse gear engaging with a movable gear arranged on a grooved sleeve of the input shaft, which is movable by tilting an inner switching fork and being driven by an axle with a lever, an adjusting rod, an outer switching fork, wherein rotation of the outer switching fork is restricted by a removable sector attached to the housing cover, and an adjusting screw arranged on the housing, abutting against a support sleeve and fixed by a cotter pin.

Reversible Drop Case Assemblies for Snowmobiles
20260021868 · 2026-01-22 · ·

A powertrain for a snowmobile includes an engine, a gearbox input shaft and a drop case assembly receiving rotational energy from the gearbox input shaft. The drop case assembly is switchable between a forward mode and a reverse mode and includes an input gear assembly coupled to the gearbox input shaft. The input gear assembly includes a forward input pulley rotatably coupled to the gearbox input shaft, a reverse input gear rotatably coupled to the gearbox input shaft and an input selector collar between the forward input pulley and the reverse input gear. The input selector collar is slidable between a forward mode position engaged with the forward input pulley to transfer rotational energy from the gearbox input shaft to the forward input pulley and a reverse mode position engaged with the reverse input gear to transfer rotational energy from the gearbox input shaft to the reverse input gear.
