Reading Internal Temperature of Continuously Variable Transmissions
A system and method are presented that measure the temperature of a component in a continuously variable transmission (CVT) system. An infrared temperature sensor is mounted in a thermally insulating sensor housing such that the sensor is located within the interior of a CVT housing and aimed at the component. The component can be a belt in the CVT system or a stationary sheave in one of the two clutches of the CVT system. The sensor housing can have a cup and a stem with the sensor being positioned within that portion of the sensor housing positioned within the interior of the CVT housing. When the stem is in the interior of the CVT housing, a nut can be used to secure the sensor housing to the CVT housing while protecting the infrared sensor from damage. An air temperature sensor in the exhaust port can provide supplemental temperature readings.
Control device for automatic transmission
A control device for an automatic transmission includes a traveling drive source, an automatic transmission, an AT controller, and a traveling drive source controller. The AT controller is configured to execute shifting by changeover of friction elements upon receiving a shift request. The traveling drive source controller is configured to execute torque limit control of the traveling drive source when a request for limiting a torque by an upper limit torque is input from the AT controller. The AT controller has an upper limit torque change processing unit configured to change the upper limit torque from a low gear upper limit torque to a high gear upper limit torque when auto-upshift is executed. The upper limit torque change processing unit is configured to raise the upper limit torque using a prescribed gradient during an inertia phase when the inertia phase is started with the auto-upshift.
Axle Assembly with Torque Sensor
A torque sensing assembly of a differential of an axle assembly is shown in the present disclosure. The differential may include a differential housing portion, a drive pinion positioned within the differential housing portion, a ring gear, a carrier, a differential pinion, a first side gear, a second side gear, a first bearing, a first bearing support, and the torque sensing assembly. The first bearing is coupled to the differential housing portion and rotatable with the carrier. The first bearing support is coupled to the differential housing portion and used to support the first bearing. The torque sensing assembly is coupled to the first bearing support and operable to measure a strain thereof resulted from a separation force created between the drive pinion and ring gear.
Apparatus and method for controlling shifting of a vehicle
An apparatus and a method for controlling shifting of a vehicle are provided. The apparatus includes a transmission configured to transmit power generated from by a motor to a vehicle wheel, and a controller configured to control an operation of the transmission. The controller is configured to enter a LURCH control mode when sensing shifting of a shift lever between a D range and an R range during driving to maintain a clutch torque in the transmission, to decrease a vehicle speed by controlling a motor speed, and to shift a gear of the vehicle by changing a motor torque when the vehicle speed reaches a threshold speed.
Method for controlling a motor of a vehicle
A method for controlling a motor of a vehicle and the vehicle are presented. The vehicle includes the motor, a control unit, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) comprising a primary pulley, a secondary pulley, and a belt looped around the primary and secondary pulleys, the belt transmitting torque between the primary and secondary pulleys and at least one ground engaging member operatively connected to the secondary pulley. The method is performed at least in part by the control unit. The method comprises determining a CVT ratio of the CVT; determining a current power output of the motor; determining a power boundary based in part on the CVT ratio; determining, when the current power output of the motor is greater than the power boundary, a torque setting based at least in part on the CVT ratio; and controlling the motor to operate under conditions corresponding to the torque setting.
Controller and control method for vehicle
A controller and a control method for a vehicle including an engine with a supercharger and an automatic transmission provided in a power transmission path between the engine and driving wheels are provided. The controller is configured to perform learning control of learning a command value associated with gear shifting of the automatic transmission. The controller is configured to limit a supercharging pressure of the supercharger when the automatic transmission is performing gear shifting to be equal to or less than a predetermined pressure until initial learning which is performed by the learning control unit in a predetermined period after the vehicle has been manufactured is completed.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TORQUE SHAPING
A vehicle includes controller programmed to receive a driver-demanded wheel torque command and calculate a shaped wheel torque command based on the driver-demanded wheel torque command. The controller is further programmed to, in response to the driver-demanded wheel torque command changing from a first magnitude that is greater than an estimated wheel torque at a last time step to a second magnitude that is less than the estimated wheel torque at a current time step, set the shaped wheel torque to a minimum of a magnitude of the shaped wheel torque at the last time step and an estimated wheel torque at the current time step. The controller is also programmed to command the first and second actuators to produce the shaped wheel torque.
